Today in Parliament, I raised the issue of delays in medical bill settlements under ECHS that are hurting our ex-servicemen and their families, during the Zero Hour.

As a Fauji, I felt it important to place before the House the difficulties our veterans and their dependents are facing.

Under our Hon’ble PM Shri @narendramodi’s leadership, welfare of our Fauj - be it serving or veterans - has always been a priority, which is why this gap needs urgent attention.

Across India, private hospitals are stepping away because reimbursements are delayed. In Kodagu, for instance, elderly veterans now travel 100–150 km through hilly terrain for basic treatment because no private hospital is empanelled.

ECHS serves 1 crore+ beneficiaries every year, yet payment delays are weakening confidence in the system.

I urged our Hon’ble Defence Minister Shri @rajnathsingh to institute a time-bound settlement mechanism so that our veterans receive uninterrupted, dignified healthcare.
