A guy paid $8 for WiFi every time he flew American Airlines.
12 flights a year. $8 each. $96/year to check email at 35,000 feet. He thought airline WiFi was a paid upgrade. It used to be. On American Airlines, it isn't anymore.
His coworker a consultant who flies American 80 times a year saw the WiFi payment notification pop up on his phone mid-flight and said: "You just paid for something that's been free since 2025. Every AAdvantage member gets free high-speed WiFi on every American Airlines flight. The membership is free. The WiFi is free. You've been paying $8 per flight for a benefit that costs $0 because nobody told you to create a free account."
He didn't know. He'd never joined AAdvantage because he assumed loyalty programs required status, annual fees, or a credit card commitment. AAdvantage is free. Takes 2 minutes. No credit card. No minimum flights. No purchase obligation.
The moment he joins before his first flight as a member he gets free high-speed WiFi on every American Airlines flight. The same WiFi he'd been paying $8 per session for across 36 flights over 3 years. $288 for a benefit that required a 2-minute free registration.
His coworker told him the free WiFi was the most visible secret and the least valuable one. She showed him 9 American Airlines secrets that most passengers including most AAdvantage members have never discovered.
Here's the full playbook 🧵
A woman had Netflix for 6 years.
She opened the app. She scrolled. She picked something after 25 minutes. She fell asleep during episode 2. She repeated this every night.
Her friend, a former Netflix UI engineer, sat on her couch one evening and opened Settings on her account. He changed 9 things in under 15 minutes.
Her homepage transformed overnight. The autoplay trailers stopped. The "continue watching" list cleaned itself up. The recommendations got sharper. The buffering on her 4K TV disappeared. The categories multiplied from 30 to 2,200.
She said "it feels like a completely different app."
He said "it is. You've been using the factory settings for 6 years. Netflix ships the version that keeps you scrolling longest, not the version that helps you find something fastest."
Here's every setting he changed 🧵
@Erick_CG23@RocksoRoxo@kimmeh07@SpursReporter He didn't. He took the max he could that year and simultaneously protected himself with the extension. They can frame this however they want; Wemby would be doing the exact same thing if he takes the deal everyone is saying makes him greedy. This thread is bs.
And of course, congratulations to Mitch, coaching staff, players, and the entire Spurs organization on a wonderful season! So proud of what this team accomplished!
There’s so much to be excited about as @Spurs fans!
Let’s celebrate this special group and keep building towards winning the next one and many more! 💪
@HeartlandHut@pwolfejr@manuginobili Fox was terrible at the end, yes, but he isnt the reason we were tied up in the first place. Our defense went to shit after that flagrant. Could we have won by one? Yes. Thanks Fox. But should we have won by 15? Yes. Thanks team.
