@Uber_Support driver canceled 10 minutes before my scheduled pickup time and now I am stuck with no way to get home from work. I am so frustrated and don't know wtf to do
I think he's supposed to be a bland character. If you relook at it using all the biblical words (eden, rapture, etc) you'll realize he serves more of a lesson in morality. He started the movie as a prisoner and was thinking very selfishly.
People say Markiplier’s performance was wooden. That’s not the problem. Man can emote well enough. The problem is that Simon is a flat character trying to be dynamic in a story not built for task.
There’s just not enough to work with here.
As he goes on and suffers more from the destruction caused by the Cosmic Entity, he eventually DOES save the Black Box in his submarine (his final test), which means he is thinking about other beings besides himself. In doing so, he becomes the last tree in the garden of New Eden
His connection to that final tree of the universe is important. With the witness of its destruction his final choice that was focused on collectivism, HE himself becomes the final tree of the new Eden. That's why we see the Oxygen level go up.

Well I WAS explaining how Simon, in his change to a more collectivist mindset, saw more changes to his physical body instead of on the molecular level. His body was absorbing the radiation and CO2 in the cabin and giving off O2 bc

@JekiRyomen And selfish, only caring about when he was going to get out of the submersible to try to start his life over. But near the end, he listens to Ava and saves the black box therefore going more towards a collectivist mindset. The black box is no use to anyone right now but will be
Bro why is this scene giving "mom, we need a giant poster board and an entire analysis for class tomorrow, can you drive us to staples?" even though it's late 8pm at night. #heatedrivalry
