UPDATE: Fresh good news from @RIHospital - ALL 6 students still being treated are now in stable condition
The student who was critical but stable yesterday has been upgraded; 3 others already discharged https://t.co/g3DgvOg3Ii
Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, a freshman at Brown, had a condition as a child that required brain surgery. The experience created an unshakable ambition to become a brain surgeon, his sister said.
He died after being shot on campus on Saturday. https://t.co/PRZVgWGFFv
Brown University student Joseph Oduro was leading a review session for an upcoming economics final with around 60 other students when he says a masked man entered the lecture hall armed with a large gun.
At least two people were killed and nine others were injured in Saturday's shooting, according to officials.
"I was standing in the front so as soon as he walked in," Oduro said. "He immediately saw me and I immediately saw him."

RIP to Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, who was killed in the Brown University shooting. Unfortunately @JDVance@PressSec and others within the Trump administration are only mourning the loss of Ella Cook, the White Conservative woman.
RIP Ella and Mukhammad.
No one should have to face this disgusting violence!
ALERT: The Rhode Island Blood Center is calling for immediate blood donations, especially with type O- and B- blood, after Saturday’s incident.
Hospitals need extra supply right now.
Extended donor center hours are available.
If you’re eligible, please donate.
Joseph Oduro, a teaching assistant, comforted a wounded student in the chaotic aftermath of a shooting at Brown University that left two dead and nine injured.
“I told her to put all the pain on me,” Oduro said.

Someone is asking the attorney general at this Rhode Island press conference:
"How do we have cameras for our speeding tickets, but not cameras to find the Brown shooter?"
Good point.
JUST IN: Second Brown University victim identified as 18-year-old Uzbekistan immigrant Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov.
The revelation was made by Umurzokov's two sisters in Midlothian, Virginia.
Umurzokov, who suffered from Chiari malformation, wanted to become a neurosurgeon to help children the way doctors helped him.
Chiari malformation is a condition in which spinal fluid puts pressure on the brain and spinal cord.
"He just got along with everyone. He was the nicest guy. If you needed help, he’d help," his high school friend, Maddox Johnson, said.
Johnson said Umurzokov once lobbied administrators at his high school to provide a more difficult physics class after he mastered the highest-level one the school offered, according to the New York Times.
Umurzokov and his family are naturalized citizens who came to the United States in 2011.
Rest in peace.

Republicans: “We gotta do something about trans people playing sports.”
The leadership @BrownUniversity has abdicated responsibility to communicate to their students to ensure their wellbeing and assuage their anxiety. The students are communicating through side channels, but many (who have not yet left campus) have been afraid to leave their dorm.
Two students were killed at Brown on Saturday, and while the Vice President has chosen to highlight Ella Cook for sharing his politics, first year student Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, of Virginia, is no less deserving of our sorrow and remembrance. Both losses are tragic
The thing that pisses me off the most this AM about @BrownUniversity is watching national conspiracy theories unfold about my own neighborhood.
Every bigoted nutjob is suddenly an expert on Brown, the shooter, and my city leadership.
Such a sad state of things that the only time these ghouls even pretend to care about mass shootings is when they can use it to demonize minority groups and the second the facts don’t support their agenda, they go back to not caring about the culture of mass death.
Our society has failed these kids in almost every imaginable way. This is obviously the right thing for Brown to do at this point, but I hate that these students can't ever seem to regain a sense of normalcy. This is the same generation that lost two years of high school to Covid. This group of kids also spent their entire K-12 years doing gun lockdown drills following Sandy Hook. Yet nothing has fundamentally changed, because the so-called adults in positions of leadership refuse to implement solutions that would prioritize the well-being of our children over their own political self interest. And Gen Z continues to pay the price. It's so unfair. 💔
