I found it very curious that they all had the same tattoo on the hand: three dots.

I asked what it meant.

An elderly man living alone in Manchester wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, since the ground was hard

His only son, Paul, who used to help him, was in prison (strange ways) . The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Paul,

I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days.

Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad,

Don’t dig up that garden. That’s where the bodies are buried.

Love,

Paul.

At 4 a.m. the next morning, CID officers and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad,

Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That’s the best I could do under the circumstances.

"Every phone sold in New Zealand for the past eight years has shipped with a parental control panel already inside it, free, no subscription, no extra purchase.
Apple ships one on every iPhone and iPad. Google ships one on every Android phone and Chromebook. The social platforms ship their own tucked inside the app settings as well.
The data on how many parents ever touch this panel is the number the whole policy story turns on. ECPAT New Zealand measured it after the government ran its own Keep It Real Online campaign. Nine percent. Nine percent of parents had installed even a basic safety filter on a child’s device.
On an iPhone the panel sits under Settings, then Screen Time. From there a parent chooses Content and Privacy Restrictions, taps App Limits, and writes a daily cap for Instagram or TikTok. The same menu holds Communication Limits and a Communication Safety switch that flags inappropriate images arriving in Messages.
On Android the equivalent is Family Link, which reaches into screen time, app approval, and content filters across Chrome, Google Play and YouTube. A person who cannot work a smartphone can still follow the on screen prompts because the panel asks one question at a time.
For the finer grained job, containing social media while it runs inside a web browser rather than an app, free and near free tools exist and are approved in New Zealand.
Qustodio, Kaspersky Safe Kids, OurPact and Norton Family track a child across apps and browsers and set per site limits. Every one of these is installable today. A short video on the same phone explains the setup.
The minister carrying the policy told the story of feeling the peer pressure of other children bleed through her own children and admitted she could not hold the line as a parent. She described parents crying out for help. The gap she described as her reason existed beside a two minute setup and a search bar.
A sentence typed into Google or a one minute video would have shown exactly where the panel lives.

The Online Safety Bill would make the platforms take reasonable steps to verify that every user is over sixteen, with fines reaching ten percent of a company’s global revenue. To confirm who is under sixteen a platform must confirm who everyone else is, which means every user on every social account in the country must run through verification. Existing account information, formal ID, and facial age estimation are the allowed methods. The same age assurance machinery is the approved path.

🇩🇪 1,051 German lawyers just signed a letter to ban a party millions of Germans keep voting for.

Judges, prosecutors and legal experts all say the AfD is unconstitutional and want the courts to shut it down before it climbs any higher in the polls.

The timing gives it away. The AfD is now one of the strongest parties in the country, so the move is to remove it by ruling instead of by vote.

And here's the catch. Under German law, regular citizens get no say in this. Only the government, the Bundestag or the Bundesrat can ask the Constitutional Court to kill off a party.

So a leading opposition party could be banned by the exact establishment it's beating.

Whatever you think of the AfD, that part should worry everyone.

Une mesure forte, brutale mais tellement logique.

Avec ce système, les dirigeants et les bureaucrates n'auront plus le choix que de maintenir un budget à l'équilibre.

Il est temps qu'ils arrêtent de jouer avec notre argent et notre futur en nous endettant sans limites.
