When @NHTSAgov preaches that "94 percent of crashes are due to human error" we get a #TrafficSafetyCulture where roadway designers feel they are not responsible for designing #SafeSystems
Important read! We should be sharing and learning from the stories of people in our community who rely on alternatives to the car when we talk about transportation safety and options! https://t.co/ZapgjZkKYG
I don't know who needs to hear this but climate action means infill, it means modal shift & the infrastructure to support it. Without these, EVs won't carry us.
Lowering speed limits means not just new signs and new procedures, but also design changes so that going slower feels natural
Tree canopy, improved crosswalks, chicanes, curb extensions, and bioswales should all be part of slower designs for safety
We're seeking volunteers to drive and bike recording temps on one of the hottest days of the year to map heat data & pursue solutions toward equitable climate resilience.
Volunteer with us July 9th (weather permitting)! Learn more at https://t.co/WmRA6rWjrj

The @cabq#VisionZero Action Plan that came out today uses crash data and Census data to identify areas where prioritized investments will address the most dangerous locations AND serve our most vulnerable communities: https://t.co/zfg7CoC3zg
This Friday, for Bike to Wherever Day, our busses will be free if you're riding your bike!

@dan_majewski@mechvibrations Agreed that Lomas could be a lot better! There are some opportunities when regular street maintenance happens, but one of the issues is the small project areas. Lomas needs a comprehensive redesign, and it would be a huge capital project!
Safe streets for all means a person biking should be able to get around without fear of traffic violence. Safe streets for all means BIPOC should be able to get around without fear of police violence. When we say safe streets for everyone, it's safer roads and so much more, too.
And further, when so many access points for open space are in wealthy neighborhoods, these restrictions hurt underprivileged people and communities who have no choice but to travel to trailheads in neighborhoods where they aren’t welcome.
Council amends then approves R-21-144, imposes a pause on the establishment of new residential parking permit areas for six months so that the parking ordinance can be revisited.
Roadrunner Law supports @visionzeroabq and @Visionzeronet in their efforts to make our streets safer for ALL users--pedestrians and motorists alike! We have seen far too many pedestrian injuries and deaths that were sadly preventable.
If you live and move around the International District, this survey will help influence a mural in your community, but that mural is also part of a conversation around #transportationquity and #trafficsafety!
Want to give your input for an art mural in @cabq?
Why give your input? Artful Life’s vision is to mitigate traffic fatalities and increase safe, healthy, equitable mobility for drivers and pedestrians.

Only a comprehensive overhaul of the #MUTCD, prioritizing goals like safety, equity, and access, will bring us the streets we urgently need to forestall the 40,000+ people dying on our streets every year.
