The Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness is an official Dark Sky Sanctuary. Overnight permits are required from May 1 through September 30. Registration for those permits opens on January 31 at 9 a.m. Are you considering a BWCAW canoeing adventure? Even though you may have some of your own gear, consider using a professional outfitter. They can assist with obtaining permits, route planning, food, and gear rental, and so much more. Outfitters are the experts and share their knowledge of our beautiful wilderness area.
