🇧🇫 🇺🇸 MASSIVE: Burkinabe Architect Francis Kere To Design The Future Las Vegas Museum Of Art. The West will always seek after Africa's best:

Las Vegas has selected the Burkinabe architect Francis Kéré to design the Las Vegas Museum of Art (LVMA). Francis Kéré, the first African recipient of the Pritzker Prize, often called the "Nobel Prize of architecture", is designing the city's first standalone art museum.

The building will rise in downtown's Symphony Park, spanning approximately 5,500 square meters. Its façade, featuring a mosaic of local stone, will echo the colors of the Red Rock Mountains. The project draws inspiration from the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas modernism, and the baobab tree.

The firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) is collaborating with Kéré Architecture. LACMA, a major Los Angeles museum, is a partner in the project. Construction is set to begin no later than February 2027, with an opening targeted for 2029.

🗣️ "It is a tremendous honor and a highlight of my professional journey," said Francis Kéré.

In 2022, he became the first African to receive the venerable Pritzker Prize, architecture's highest honor. Interestingly, he got his high school diploma at the age of 30!!!

👉 NOTE: Some of his latest projects include: Knowledge Library in Rio de Janeiro, the Thomas Sankara Memorial in Ouagadougou, the building of Benin's Parliament and the Technical University of Munich daycare center in Germany. Thomas Sankara Memorial has not yet been completed even though it was inaugurated. When completed, it will have a tower in the center of it.
