He was the first semiconductor device researcher at IIT Bombay, built the nanofab here from the ground-up including a successful 3 micron NMOS process in the 1980s!

Take Sterlite Tamil Nadu.
-> The plant once contributed nearly 40% of India’s copper production, generated around ₹5,000 crore annually & supported 40,000+ livelihoods directly & indirectly.

After the shutdown, imports surged while local workers and ancillary businesses suffered silently.

Environmental accountability is important, but development and jobs matter too.

India cannot dream of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse while shutting down core industries like this.
