How Pakistan made the world over 3 trillion dollars richer

On April 7, the world edged toward Trump's 8pm ultimatum that "a whole civilization will die tonight." By mid-afternoon, Polymarket gave less than a 5% chance for a ceasefire. But then in a flurry of last-minute diplomacy led by Pakistan's PM Shehbaz Sharif, ceasefire odds shifted from near-impossibility to 100%, as both U.S. and Iranian leadership publicly acknowledged the important role played by Pakistan.

The sharp shift in probability of ceasefire from near-zero to certainty, allows us to estimate cleanly the market value of Pakistan's successful diplomacy. There was a sharp jump of 2.9% in S&P500 around the ceasefire announcement. The reaction was similar the world over.

Global markets represent about $125T, so a 2.9% jump represents a gain of 3.6 trillion dollars for the world. Pakistan helped create TEN times its own GDP for the world!

For me, the best part is not the trillions of dollar, but seeing Pakistan on the world stage as a peace maker.

I hope Pakistan runs with this new identity by promoting peace not only abroad, but also at home. That means moving away from politics of division and exclusion, and treating every citizen as its own.

Is Israel using a base in Azerbaijan to attack Iran again?

In the last few hours, the Israeli Air Force released footage showing attacks on Iranian ships and an installation on the Caspian Sea.

This brings us right back to the strong suspicion that these flights are taking off from Azerbaijan. The Israeli journalist Ariel Oseran confirmed that the strikes were carried out by fighter jets and not drones.

In 2024, Iran already suspected that Azerbaijan might be helping Israel. Then, during the 12-day war in 2025, they gathered evidence and directly confronted Azerbaijan.

In 2026 the situation became tense again, with Azerbaijan moving troops to the border. After a few days the tension eased and Azerbaijan sent an amount of humanitarian aid to Iran.

But this latest publicized attack leaves Azerbaijan with no explanation. Israeli aircraft do not have the range to reach the Caspian Sea unless they are taking off from Azerbaijan, where they reportedly operate a secret air base, something already reported by the Israeli media.

Tensions between the two countries may rise once more.

While Trump uses Pakistan to calm Iran, China uses Pakistan to arm Iran’s neighbor with platforms that could eventually reach Iranian hangars.

While BRICS talks economic cooperation, China hands India’s primary rival stealth parity that Delhi cannot match until AMCA arrives in 2035.

This is not an arms deal.

This is the architecture of a parallel military order.

The Pentagon confirmed it because they cannot stop it.

40 jets. 959 kilometers of shared border. One transmission channel for technology that took America $1.7 trillion to develop.

The stealth monopoly is over.

The question is whether Washington understood it ended yesterday.
