That’s exactly the point.
In Nigerian politics, many people are used to power built on patronage and personal gain. So when someone comes in talking about cost-cutting, accountability, and discipline, it naturally disrupts that system.
What stands out with Peter Obi is that despite years of scrutiny, the usual “political dirt” narratives don’t stick easily. That’s why the debate often shifts from ideas to attacks.
At the end of the day, voters will decide who they trust based on records and consistency, not noise.
The average Nigerian politician sees Peter Obi as a direct threat to their source of livelihood. It unsettles them that a man who has conquered greed could step into the arena. Their greatest shock is discovering they cannot dig up dirt on him. That failure is a major blow to their playbook. Hence, the relentless campaign of calumny against him.
Calling Peter Obi an "IPOB apologist" does not make it true.
Questioning the prosecution of Nnamdi Kanu or calling for a political solution is not the same as supporting IPOB or endorsing violence. Many respected Nigerians, including elders, traditional rulers, and political leaders, have called for dialogue without being labeled terrorists.
Peter Obi has repeatedly condemned violence from any group and has consistently spoken about peace, justice, and the rule of law.
The real issue is that some people deliberately confuse advocating due process with supporting a group. They are not the same thing.
If sympathy for citizens' rights and fair treatment under the law makes someone an "apologist," then we need to redefine what democracy means.
Peter Obi is an IPOB Apologist — Prince Adini
Political commentator Prince Adini has described Peter Obi, the Nigeria Democratic Congress’s (NDC) presidential candidate, as an ‘IPOB apologist,’ accusing him of repeatedly expressing sympathy for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.
Speaking on the Echo Room podcast, Adini argued that Obi’s public comments about IPOB and Kanu amounted to support for the group’s cause, although he acknowledged that Obi had not been accused of being a member of the organisation.
“All you can accuse him of is sympathizing with them. That you can accuse Obi of, sympathizing with IPOB,” Adini said during the discussion.
According to him, Obi had publicly questioned the basis for prosecuting Kanu and had also argued that members of IPOB should not be regarded as criminals.
“Peter Obi came on air and said he doesn’t see any reason why they should prosecute Nnamdi Kanu. What has he done?” Adini stated.
He noted that despite such remarks, the Nigerian government had not taken any action against the former Anambra State governor.
“Nigerian government did not arrest Obi that you are an IPOB apologist. Because IPOB is actually a t+rrorist organization,” he said.
Adini further linked IPOB and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), to v+olence in the South-East, claiming that many lives had been lost in the region.
“You know how many people lost their life in the Southeast?” he asked, while alleging that two Catholic priests were recently k+lled in an att@ck he attributed to ESN.
“Two priests were k+lled, and ESN came out and said, ‘we k+lled them.’ And who set up ESN? Nnamdi Kanu,” Adini said.
While insisting that Obi’s comments reflected his personal opinion, Adini maintained that they showed sympathy towards IPOB.
“We know he’s an apologist of IPOB, but has the government arrested him?” he added.
@tman_musa You complained about insults and then wrote a whole essay full of insults.
If Peter Obi is as weak and irrelevant as you claim, why is he still living rent-free in your head?
Criticizing government failures is not negativity. In a democracy, it is called accountability.
Nobody said it's an offence to support Tinubu.
The real question is this: why do many people defend Peter Obi? Because they see him talking about accountability, cutting waste, production, and better governance.
If people challenge your support for Tinubu, it is because they are judging the government by the hardship, inflation, and economic struggles Nigerians are facing today.
Support whoever you like, but don't pretend all politicians are being judged on the same record.
Wait, someone please educate me.
How good is Nico Paz really? Is the hype justified, or is he just another talented youngster with a big fan base? What are his biggest strengths and weaknesses?
Peter Obi is currently the only leading politician whose aides are not attacking anyone.
Check around.
Tinubu has Daniel Bwala and Bayo Onanuga calling opponents names.
Atiku has Demola, Royalty, Kenneth Okonkwo, and Abdul calling Peter Obi names.
Peter Obi and his aides are talking about Nigeria and how to fix Nigeria.
Pastor Odumeje blows hot again. Calls out Tinubu's bad leadership.
"Since Nigeria gained Independence we have been shouting "up nepa", take a look at Ghana"
This is my take for reducing the tension in NDC, where the party leaders need to act quickly and be honest.
First, they should talk to each other more and clear misunderstandings inside the party, not on social media or media houses.
Second, any problem should be handled within the party, not through insults in public or self praises of who is more qualify or not.
Third, members should respect each other, no matter their views or past issues.
Finally, the party should focus on unity and their main goals, not personal fights.
If they do this, the tension will go down and the party will be stronger. Daalu nu oo
@ChiefOyegun@MealdredO Why are you taking Panadol for someone else’s headache?
Go and focus on your divided ADC and your “Kachalla” there. This one is not your concern.
@DrElivt@realkenokonkwo Exactly. It shows clearly.
When someone has no strong point, they start using insults and stories. That is confusion.
Let’s talk facts, not emotions or noise.
Sometimes I wonder what some people gain from spreading false narratives. From the video, it’s clearly obvious he was referring to his opponent, as both are contesting for a Senate seat—the video itself confirms it.
So why drag Peter Obi into this? Must everything be twisted into propaganda? Let’s be honest and stop forcing narratives that simply don’t exist.
