Ridley Scott reportedly blamed Paul Mescal for ‘Gladiator II’ and felt he wasn’t “masculine enough”
According to Puck’s Matt Belloni, Scott was unhappy with Mescal after ‘Gladiator II’ and that reportedly contributed to the actor being dropped from ‘The Dog Stars.’
Mescal had originally been attached to star before Jacob Elordi replaced him. His team cited scheduling conflicts with Sam Mendes’ Beatles films, but that explanation has since been disputed.

@chimenesuleyman@imbethmccoll They seemed quite happy with their food. They seemed to think it was good and authentically London. I was surprised they weren’t better informed or more adventurous.
@chimenesuleyman@imbethmccoll I was watching some American YouTubers who do travel content. In London they ordered fish and chips in Wetherspoons and bought samosas from a newsagent in a tube station. I just don’t think they know where to find the good stuff.
@_Nullifidian_@JoeGayHistorian@hellothisisivan Interesting how it’s the one most people don’t seem to know as it felt like a big deal at the time but it’s obviously not endured. It’s a very strange inclusion on the list. It’s a great story but basically a fancy episode of 999.
@gettagripfolks I have seen Brief Encounter several times and I was born over 30 years after it was made. None of the films in that list are particularly hard to find if you’re interested (I think a couple are on the iPlayer right now). Of course you don’t have to be interested.
