Hi @wesstreeting - about direct access to specialists, I have questions ... thread 🧵
You have a lump in the back of your head, you want to see a dermatologist. Why not a surgeon?
What if the lump was in your neck. Is it a gland swelling, a lipoma, cancer? Who do you see now?

@DrBenLovell Gently nudging/shaking the end of the bed with your knee causes them to stir, then they see you, also means no direct contact before they’re awake. Learnt this from a very good geriatrician & always used to work!
@toptottieNic@toptottieNic is this Portscatho? Was here 3 weeks ago - what an amazing place to live/work! If we holiday there again I would definitely consider!
A reminder that even when the advise to socially distance ends there will still be those who are uncomfortable, and it's important to give people room, and respect their decision to continue to wear masks and maintain reduced physical contact.
Thanks to @hellosidekickco for an inspiring Strengths talk this evening. You helped me to realise what I bring to a team but also would help me lead one. I will endeavour to develop this further & use it for the benefit of staff & patients! @NextGGP#relator#individualisation
He made it count, didn't he, old Captain Tom? For all those worrying about how much time we'll have lost when this ghastly crisis finally ends, what an inspiring reminder that you might be 99 years old and still have some of your greatest adventures ahead of you.
RIP.
Our PCN team did a fabulous job again delivering over 1200 vaccines in 2 days. Really positive to have our 3 student nurses also on site supporting the vaccine rollout. Primarycare environment has changed but the learning must go on @Gpnsnn@CM_PCAcademy @WeGPNs @kstorey63
Thanks to @NickJHarding @NextGGP for an inspiring evening about leadership. Quote of the evening ‘Leadership isn’t about who’s in charge it’s about taking care of who’s in your charge.’ #RCGP#leadership#NextgenGP
True sentiment from our first covid clinic-Warmed my heart as the elderly came in their hundreds in wheelchairs, zimmer frames with cold hands rubbing in sanitizer and watery eyes peeping from masks so grateful for this vaccine of hope @WeGPNs @CheshireCCG
And with that the avid gardener gained her #CCT from @rcgp such a relief and accomplishment. Exciting ideas ahead in my #firstfive years. Does anyone have any resources/top tips they used?
If you’re outside riding your bike on these nice sunny days, maybe with all of your children, could you put a helmet on? Good advice for always, but now especially... we don’t have the ICU capacity for your head injury. Ta.
At 94 years old, I never imagined that i'd ever be new to anything again, but i'm new to Twitter! This is my first Tweetle. This will show my grandson that I can get down with the young ones. The only problem I have, is getting back up again!
Can I just say how much I appreciate the nonhealthcare workers who are keeping us afloat? Grocery store workers, gas station clerks, truckers, farmers, childcare providers, postal workers, sanitation engineers, IT, electricians, plumbers, food service and many others.
In November 1970, officials in Oregon, USA decided to blow up a rotting whale carcass. The whole thing went horribly wrong.
Why do we bring this up? Well, this story can teach us 3 things about #coronavirus ⬇️
So GPs have finally been provided with PPE for #COVID2019uk
However the supplies are not quite what is recommended; paper mask, plastic apron and gloves (all medium size)
Barely adequate for cleaning the toilets.
Seriously @NHSEngland @PHE_uk ??
Is this how you rate GPs?
Coronavirus self-isolation & requests for GPs to issue sick certificates for affected people.
Could the Govt consider extending the self-certification period to 14 days at the present time to alleviate pressure on NHS?
Or 111 issue when advised? @MattHancock@NikkiKF@TheBMA
