yep he does

he has explained lots of times that they have run multiple tests to figure out the best context window size before compaction

and that's comes anything above 250k to 400k, maybe it's just OpenAI models but with my testing with using similar context window in claude, he's sorta right and it does slow down the usage consumption

now by design the model does support 1m tokens soo yeah you can change that in codex from config.toml
