Agreed, I’ve talked about this with a couple folks before, especially in conversations regarding space and underwater deployments; my take is that until these proposed innovative deployments are cheaper than the relatively simple “Alaska-type” scenarios (remote, untapped, but with plenty of room and natural resources and still on US soil), there’ll still be more takers for the latter and there are several spots like this, industry just didn’t have a reason/necessity to explore them prior. Couple key concerns: need to get some extreme cold weather certification on all the outdoor equipment; also need clear structures for who’s building new power plants, under what timeline and cost to kick things off and avoid chicken and the egg portion of development cycle. Many companies won’t want to be this remote but there’s a portion of the market (training) that would be interested, and that portion is the one experiencing most of the growth…
@TheAlphaThought@basedbtc_ Wow incredible insight and advice. Hello, insurance company? I’m calling to bring down my rates, like Dividend Dominator said
@Motor1com Solid list. Meanwhile @CARandDRIVER crew has a gmc terrain, x1, and Mazda 5. Seriously if you choose a Terrain on purpose and work for an auto publication, there should be an option to “ignore all articles from this writer”.
@stuartlosaltos@WestJet Best and saddest part is just how much better even average U.S. airlines are for customer service, which already get a lot of complaints. Almost comical difference.
@wono_strategy@Airbnb Found an exterior camera (but interior facing) that was pointed to the bedroom and interior on one of our stays. Got the same runaround with Airbnb and then nothing.
No filters, no edits, just @GrandCanyonNPS in all its glory along with its too many angles, shadows and nuances to truly capture by photo - shot on my iPhone before hopping back in the rented mustang convertible and driving through snowy mountains amidst a sea of desert.
@NecktieSalvage Everybody’s opinion when they take their first intercontinental flight lol. Do it 50 more times with some short hauls in between and it loses its allure.
Good point. Another interesting dimension to this is that it seemed like at least in the past, we had a much easier time keeping global events separate from our personal lives whenever we wanted them to be. This is becoming less and less the case, there’s a seemingly unavoidable convergence between personal and global. A lot of anxiety as it’s inescapable.
