Fair criticism if you think the entire image was AI-generated, but that’s not what happened.

Here’s the before (the original photo) and the final edit. The work was in the composition, lighting, color grading, masking, cleanup, product integration, and making everything feel cohesive and clickable.

AI was used as a tool, just like Photoshop, Camera Raw, or any other editing tool. The creative direction and the final result still came from my decisions and execution.

I’ve been making thumbnails for years, long before AI became part of creators’ workflows. That’s exactly why I see AI as an extension of the skill, not a replacement for it.

As a thumbnail designer in 2026, refusing to use AI is, in many cases, refusing to adapt. This industry moves incredibly fast, and the designers who embrace better tools will outperform those who don’t. Ignoring AI doesn’t make the work more authentic—it often just makes the process slower and less competitive.

You don’t have to like AI, but saying “you did nothing” ignores the actual before-and-after process and the fact that tools evolve while creativity, taste, and execution are what separate good designers from mediocre ones.
