The US military has never in its history found itself in a more defensive position. The “blockade” is nothing but a last ditch attempt at saving face before complete US withdrawal from West Asia. It is retreat by other means.

This is a key point: a country that want to pursue a sovereign path — i.e., a path independent of US imperial diktats — simply cannot afford Western-style liberal-democratic “freedoms” (even assuming it wanted to go that way, which is entirely its choice in the first place), for the simple fact that the US will use any opening to flood the country with money and assets with the aim of destabilising/overthrowing the government and bringing it back under control. Indeed, where countries have fallen victim to external subversion, regime change, etc. it’s largely because they didn’t coup-proof their country hard enough by wanting to adhere to Western “democratic standards”. We may call this the US imperial dilemma: so long as the US imperial machine exist, no country can be sovereign and democratic at the same time.

Anyone spreading the claim that Iran killed 30,000? 60,000? On what evidence? If you want to criticise Iran, do it.
