Exciting PhD fellowship available in Rumen Microbiology as part of a collaboration with my lovely colleagues Sinead Waters #Teagasc, Sharon Huws and Fernanda Godoy Santos #QUB#universityofgalway
Funded by the Global Methane Hub and Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine!
The last conference in my PhD is done! It was a great time to meet so many amazing people in the field and to exchange ideas and experiences. Looking forward to finishing the PhD back in Galway soon.
➡️ Slurry additive to cut slurry methane emissions by 80% (+locks in nutrients, cuts odour & reduces gas safety hazard) ~ farm roll out 2024
➡️ Feed pellet to cut bovine methane by 30% (also improves performance) ~ roll out from 2024/25
Costs & detail to come @farmersjournal
(1) The @farmersjournal in #Galway today to meet with @glasport_bio team at @uniofgalway & on dairy farm of John Finn, Oranmore
Trials, approvals & roll outs look promising for 2 methane-cutting products ⬇️
A nice wrap to 2022. Got my first paper published, investigating the effects of various brown and green seaweeds on methane emissions in vitro https://t.co/RxihsVWvNN. (1/4)

As the world’s population grows, how do we increase food production, reduce greenhouse gas emissions & manage waste, all at once?
At the Microbial Ecology Laboratory #NUI Galway, researchers are discovering how.
