Amen. "It's time to change gears and acknowledge that there is no souped-up Delorean that can take us back to 2010. The CFPB is here to stay — and if the agency's opponents want to be here to stay, too, they should set their sights a little lower." https://t.co/eKoyxS8R6z
BREAKING: A federal court granted a partial preliminary injunction that will lessen the impact of Oklahoma's classroom censorship law restricting students in public schools and universities from learning about race and gender.
Real people don’t GET to pretend junk fees don’t exist. @ChopraCFPB, “They (consumers) are paying up for things that are providing sometimes no service whatsoever and I’m proud of the work we’ve done to wipe out BILLIONS of dollars in junk fees.” @SenWarren#ProtectConsumers

It seems an important time to recognize how foundational CCHD - both nationally and locally - has been to the work of VOICE. We are grateful, and pray that church leaders understand how central CCHD's work is to the mission of the Catholic Church. https://t.co/laiMQzupCv
I suppose it's not surprising that the CFPB's opponents would try to spin last week's #SCOTUS decision as something other than the major loss it was, but this argument in a @WSJ op-ed really takes the cake. 1/x
#DidYouKnow In March 2024 alone big bank trade groups gave $36,000 to Republican U.S. Senators who weeks later co-sponsored a Congressional Review Act Resolution to kill the CFPB's popular new rule capping credit card late fees at $8, down from an average of $32. #junkfees
A new rule from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) will save us real money – $10 billion/year – by capping the outrageous late charges that credit card companies (banks) impose, bringing them down from as high as $32 to $8. #ProtectConsumers
#DidYouKnow The 25 largest credit card companies charge us interest rates 8 to 10 points higher than small banks & credit unions? Big banks need to follow the path smaller banks have laid out and lower late fees. #ProtectConsumers
EPISO/BI leaders from St Thomas Aquinas will not rest until their streets are safe. Over 100 gathered last night with 2 council members and their commissioner. Leaders asked for immediate action for traffic calming measures and speed bumps. #organizedpeople
And now the state will spend $$ to defend an unconstitutional law. Again. We will be working to help our immigrant families know their rights & also that there are many here who welcome & appreciate them. Much love to our immigrant leaders & families on this sad day.
Video from our press conference and VOICE leader Irma Palacios were featured in OK News 4's coverage of HB 4156 yesterday! (starting minute 2 in the video). Well done, leaders!

#DidYouKnow @CFPB and @POTUS have taken bold steps in reducing credit card late fees which will save the families that typically pay these fees $220 a year.

OK's HB 4156 suggests that targeting immigrants without documents is an effective way to combat crime. VOICE clergy & clergy allies oppose this bill as being too broad, primarily impacting honest, hard-working immigrant families who contribute in many positive ways to our state.
HB 4156 would be disastrous for families, church communities, and businesses. The cruelty of this legislation is not in keeping with our Oklahoma Standard, a state that since our beginning has been a community of indigenous and immigrant members.
