Research has shown that manmade noise in our oceans can affect communication and hunting for marine animals. Our move to green , zero carbon vessels is also giving our marine life one less thing to worry about. #evoyager#electricboat#futureisgreen#reducingenginenoise
The data will be compared with that of our new, zero carbon, green vessel e-Voyager and measure environmental improvement. Our vision is to create a fully electric fleet, helping to reduce the greenhouse gases that cause global warming.
Photovoltaic panels will harness the energy of the sun to operate the onboard domestic services and monitor the electric drive system. Weighing in at 120 kilos the design team is altering the ballast by adding weight to the keel, ensuring the vessel is perfectly balanced.
Kerry McCarthy MP, Shadow Minister for Green Transport and Luke Pollard MP Plymouth Sutton & Devonport visited us yesterday! We hope they enjoyed coming out on the water to experience the UK's first sea-going electric ferry! #eboat#electricboat#evoyager#greenmarinedesign
Plymouth Boat Trips and Voyager Marine, Cornwall have launched e-Voyager, the UK’s first sea-going electric ferry. Designed and developed with partners, the green ferry will now undergo rigorous running trials, before carrying passengers on PBT’ ferry routes from April 2021.
e-Voyager will be the first vessel to have been recognised by both the MCA and a Classification Society, for satisfying the exacting standards of both organisations. The partners are now progressing to the conversion of larger passenger vessels in Plymouth Boat Trips’ fleet.
@markcouncillor Coker on board the first seawater electric ferry , a very special day for water transport and maritime innovation in Plymouth👏 support from a range of partners including @plymouthcc @PlymUni @PlymBoatTrips
Pushing towards a more sustainable, zero carbon future, the e-Voyager team are busy adding finishing touches to this exciting and ground-breaking project to create the UK’s first sea going electric boat. Launch date is coming!

Inspired by e-Voyager, Lana Pericic, a student at the @PlymUni has incorporated coding/visualisation in Unity Game Engine and 3D modelling to focus on the environmental need for the development of fully electric passenger vessels.

This is Ian Godfrey, Development Design Engineer for @TeignbridgeProp. He was on onboard with @Plymboattrips last week fitting a doppler velocity log to their Plymouth Princess, aiming to accurately track the speed of the boat through the water.
