Answering a top request from our users, we’re introducing Personal Intelligence in the @GeminiApp. You can now securely connect to Google apps for an even more helpful experience.
Personal Intelligence combines two core strengths: reasoning across complex sources and retrieving specific details, e.g from an email or photo, to provide uniquely tailored answers.
It’s built with privacy at the center. You choose exactly which apps to connect, these connected app settings are off by default.
I've never felt this much behind as a programmer. The profession is being dramatically refactored as the bits contributed by the programmer are increasingly sparse and between. I have a sense that I could be 10X more powerful if I just properly string together what has become available over the last ~year and a failure to claim the boost feels decidedly like skill issue. There's a new programmable layer of abstraction to master (in addition to the usual layers below) involving agents, subagents, their prompts, contexts, memory, modes, permissions, tools, plugins, skills, hooks, MCP, LSP, slash commands, workflows, IDE integrations, and a need to build an all-encompassing mental model for strengths and pitfalls of fundamentally stochastic, fallible, unintelligible and changing entities suddenly intermingled with what used to be good old fashioned engineering. Clearly some powerful alien tool was handed around except it comes with no manual and everyone has to figure out how to hold it and operate it, while the resulting magnitude 9 earthquake is rocking the profession. Roll up your sleeves to not fall behind.
Lost in translation? We’re here to help. 💬Today, we’re announcing new live capabilities in Google Translate for real-time, natural conversations and we’re launching a language practice experience in beta that can be customized to your learning goals.
Every month, people use Google to translate around 1 trillion words. Today, we’re introducing a new AI-powered live translation experience in the Google Translate app, plus a new beta feature to help you practice new languages. Rolling out now on iOS + Android.
We’re kicking off the start of our Gemini 2.0 era with Gemini 2.0 Flash, which outperforms 1.5 Pro on key benchmarks at 2X speed (see chart below). I’m especially excited to see the fast progress on coding, with more to come.
Developers can try an experimental version in AI Studio and Vertex AI today. It is also available to try in @GeminiApp on the web today, mobile coming soon.
As part of @Google's 1,000 Languages Initiative, a commitment to support the 1,000 most spoken languages, & w/help of our PaLM 2 LLM, we're adding support for 110 new languages (spoken by 614M people) to Google Translate (now supporting 243 languages). 🎉

Gemini 1.5 Pro's 1,000,000+ token context length is incredible.
I got early access and spent my Saturday night running tests.
Here are 6 impressive capabilities I found:
We've finally put out a detailed IEEE/ACM paper on @Google's multi-year effort to ease the burden of code review with ML. Google engineers now resolve 7.5% of all code review comments with an ML-suggested edit. But the path to that number has been a fun ML and UX journey!
