But the chat window is not yet back. why do we have to compulsorily use this small pop up chat window @ChatGPTapp? Why cant it be like earlier chat in desktop app?

Guide to new @ChatGPTapp:

1. Work, Codex, Chat are now part of 1 desktop app with old app’s name n logo. Called as ChatGPT. Chat here is only for quick reference.

2. ChatGPT Classic (old desktop app) has no new feature

3. Use ChatGPT on web for full Chat features.

the chat window in the new chatgpt app is really ugly and poorly designed. but OMG! the speed of 5.6 and the quality of output is Vrooooom!!! it is indeed super fast. kudos to the team. Hope you guys work on giving better chat experience also soon in terms of UI/UX.

for 5.6 one has to use the poorly designed chat pill in the new chatgpt desktop or for proper access it has to be only on webmail.

Old ChatGPT app is now “ChatGPT Classic” for normal usage as earlier.

New ChatGPT desktop app (formerly Codex) now includes ChatGPT, Codex, and Work, bringing all 3 experiences into single app. But purpose of this chat in so called new desktop app is only for quick reference.

Oh, they didn't mention this on the livestream, unless I missed it. Codex is now the ChatGPT app. Makes sense. Today was the cutover point. I just hope the Codex team keeps up the incredible work and momentum.
