@kaleidescape@tomshardware 100% agree with this. I have the Strato M on a 77” OLED from 8 ft. and and I can’t tell the difference between it and the same 4K UHD movie on my Oppo 203. If the networks were smart, they would save the bandwidth needed to go to 4K and just add HDR to their 1080p broadcasts.
@istrakhov@TeamYouTube@espn@UHD4k@CordCuttersNews I was on the right channel and it was 1080p. No HDR either. When I had DirecTV, ESPN 4K was 4K (probably upscaled), but WITH HDR, which is more important than the resolution.
@UHD4k@pennington1@IBC365 1080 HDR is the way to go. 4K is not the difference maker, HDR and WCG is. Broadcasters can save the bandwidth and expense of converting to 4K and viewers will be happy. This is the way.
@HDMOVIESOURCE@20thcentury@20thHomeEnt To me, film grain is an inherent defect in the medium. It is no different than tape hiss in early audio recordings. Dolby labs built its reputation on removing tape hiss…they called it noise reduction. I don’t remember anyone complaining about not hearing the noise.
