"So I ask them, why is it that the US applies this to us but not in Gaza?" Sri Lanka President has questioned why there appears to be double standards by sections of the international community in regard the application of the laws governing human rights.

President pointed out that the West, including the USA, had passed resolutions against SL for its human rights record. He questioned why there was a
difference in the approach taken by these nations towards Sri Lanka and Gaza, where similar issues were prevalent. He stressed that the same rules should apply to both regions.
