@zapatas_mom 1000% agree w you. I am currently in China for a 3 month stay. The efficient operations are SYSTEMATIC, everywhere!!! It is very hard for Westerners to comprehend without being here. The life here is so so conveniet & smooth that I wish I can secure lg term visa to stay.
@BillAckman China+1 Model:
Hi efficient, lg scale, all inclusive China Make for World Mkts excl US;
Low efficient, sm scale, diversive Non-China Make just for US Mkt.
We in the US will get expensive products due to lw efficient mnfct.
@BenjaminNorton For China, it is 79%! Upto Jan 2025, the tariffs rate on China imports was already 25%. Then +10% more in Feb, and +10% more in March. Now additional "reciprocal" tariffs at 34%.
@VolatilityVIX Last evening my kid flew back fr NYC to Chicago. AA flight delayed for 2h. It made me thinking abt hi speed trains in China. Beijing-Shanghai same distance. Get to train sttn 15m earlier, & 4.5h ride. R/T: B-S 86 trains vs N-C 100 flights. Not comparable.
@VolatilityVIX And if purely for shorting VIX delta, shorting SVIX puts is very margin efficient. For the above case of shorting ~ total delta $, short June 20 SVIX calls x14, only $200 margin. Certainly beta splippage need to be addressed with SVIX.
@VolatilityVIX So true! I checked margin impacts with IB:
(1) Short VXX June 55c x10, Delta $11,823, init margin $27,229;
(2) Equivalent to short VXX 230 shs, Init mgin $8,028;
(3) VXM May Future x6, margin $10,754.
Conclusion: only short calls fr vega & theta purpose.
