I have many more questions about calibration, indoor/outdoor temperature, and additive effects, but I must get back to work. I’ve paid a lot as a first-generation woman in science, but I can’t say the true cost has been converted so explicitly to currency until now.

Is the @Hyatt fining women for their beauty routine? I received a $350 fine for showering, blow drying, and curling my hair. All thanks to the inappropriate use of a ‘scientific’ model.

Scientific Consideration #3: A model should predict true positives (sensitivity) and true negatives (specificity). From the reference graphs, this smoking metric on the Y axis increases with aerosols, showering, and cooking, but does not differentiate between the three.

@TedAbelneuro What a great example! I also made the choice to shut down lab operations so the entire team could be home and protect their loved ones. So glad to see other examples of this in the neuroscience community!
Good article that is more balanced than many other lay articles in favor of #opioid prescribing for chronic pain. Must say that the definition of a forced taper” is unclear. If I deem the risk/benefit poor and do a slow wean, is that “forced”? I disagree with abandonment
@AbePalmer Thanks, Abe! Did you hear Wade Berrettini’s talk, as well? He presented work I’m overseeing at Geisinger coding the DSM criteria for OUD via chart review!
Missing the NIDA Genetics Consortium because I have a brand new 2 week old son! But excited that preliminary data from my multi-PI grant, “Clinical and Genetic Study is Opioid Addiction” is being shared by my colleagues and staff. #NIDAGC#Geisinger#OpioidEpidemic
Our latest paper shows that they eye's pupil response reflects changes in the focus of visual attention! Relevant to those interested in indices of visual attention, autism, and differences in global/local processing.

@gsescousse @NeuroImage_EiC Sorry to read about your experience but I have to admit, also cathartic that I’m not the only one experiencing this. Every one of my paper submissions since starting my lab have sat awaiting reviewer assignment for a minimum of a month, sometimes 2 or 3...
A conference that offers child care, time and space for nursing, and options for shipping pumped milk home! All conference organizers should take a page from Duke’s Summer School in Social Neuroscience playbook, https://t.co/VTPKxGpVOi.
Keynote speaker Chad Brummett talks about preventative strategies to combat the 134 Americans that die every day from opioid overdose deaths @drchadb#GeisingerPainSymposium
Important point from Michelle Kwiec: Relapse rates in addicts are the same as relapse rates in other chronic diseases, like diabetes and heart disease. #GeisingerPainSymposium
