One of our Grade 1 students, on this evening’s long, rain-soaked bus ride home. As roads flooded, our teacher turned the wait into a conversation about the problem we keep raising here.
Here’s what this six-year-old came up with, on his own:
“First we take all the pictures, then put it into a drive, then give it to the government. Then they see it, they see what’s the problem, and they make some pipes, so all the drainage water…”
Document the problem. Share it with those who can fix it. A six-year-old has just described the thinking behind Our Mobility, Our Voice!
That’s the Inventurer spirit & approach - identify a problem and thinking about what we can do to be positive #changemakers
Proud of our learners - students and teachers for nurturing that spirit, and converting a challenging ride home, into a learning opportunity

For a week now, our team has noticed 1–2 traffic personnel at Dommasandra crossing through the day, along with preparations for repairs on the Dommasandra–TC Halli stretch and the flyover up to Oakridge.
Thank you @blrcitytraffic and @wftrps. Please keep going.
The numbers have improved too. Morning buses arriving more than 15 minutes late have fallen from an average of 6.5 a day in our September baseline to none so far this week. The average evening ride is down from 76 to 56 minutes.
But most schools are on Dussehra break this week, so lighter traffic is likely contributing. We’ll keep tracking after schools reopen to see how much of this improvement lasts. This is also a good window to push ahead with road repairs.
Afternoons still need attention. Our team’s photos today show:
• 2:26 pm: R34 on Marathahalli bridge
• 2:47 pm: R42 on Panathur Road
• 3:49 pm: R35 on Hosur Road towards St Marks Road
The signal and road towards Sapphire Toys remain congested, and one Attibele route took 2 hours 30 minutes today.
Let’s keep reporting these bottlenecks and working together for improvements that last. If you travel these roads, tell us where you lose time and what changes made by the govt / elected reps are working
Happy to see all stakeholders on including across political parties working on a #BetterBengaluru

Bengaluru is living up to its marathon-city reputation - runners doing a 10 km run in under 56 minutes would outpace our school buses!
Ten kilometres. Fifty-six minutes.
That is what this morning’s average speed of 10.8 km/h means for our slowest six school bus routes - roughly 10% of the 61 routes we track on the SH-35 corridor.
For comparison, TomTom’s 2025 morning rush-hour benchmarks put a 10 km drive at:
• Bengaluru: 41 minutes
• Hyderabad: 35 minutes
• Chennai: 34 minutes
• Mumbai: 32 minutes
• Singapore: 23 minutes
Our slowest buses are taking the equivalent of 15 minutes longer per 10 km than Bengaluru’s own morning rush-hour benchmark.
One route took 98 minutes to cover 16.6 km. In all, 19 of our 61 routes ran below the city’s morning rush-hour speed.
This corridor serves around 40,000 schoolchildren. Time on the road is time taken from learning, play, rest and family.
We need sustained traffic enforcement, road repairs and coordinated action across the school corridor.
A city that wants the world’s talent has to be able to move its children! And for that matter it’s entrepreneurs & professionals

1 Oct 26 update
Four days, four very different days... Here’s what this week on #SH35 actually looked like:
Monday: 16/61 routes late
Tuesday: 31 late after the rain
Wednesday: mornings recovered to 18 late, while evenings slipped to 24
Thursday: our worst morning yet — 35 late, with a road closure, waterlogging & heavy vehicles back on the stretch. Then, within hours, one of our best evenings — just 3 late.
No two days on this corridor look the same and that’s exactly the point.
A good Monday doesn’t mean the problem is solved. A bad Thursday doesn’t mean nothing has changed. What matters is whether the interventions that work - enforcement, traffic management and road fixes — are sustained every single day.
And we the citizens need to take responsibility for our actions too!
We will continue tracking the corridor closely, documenting what changes and where gaps remain. The interventions must continue, the weak points must be addressed, and the results must be measured consistently.
We will return with Monday’s numbers. And next week, we all need to hold ourselves and the system accountable for whether this progress is being sustained.
Thank you to @krishnabgowda@blrcitytraffic@wftrps@GBAChiefComm for leading from the front and staying engaged with us this week. Let’s carry that energy and focus into next week too.

Today, Bengaluru’s SH-35 corridor—Varthur–Gunjur–Dommasandra—received the site visit it has needed for months, if not decades.
@krishnabgowda , Minister for Bengaluru Development, experienced the #SH35 corridor firsthand: its mobility challenges, traffic black spots, the impact of years of neglect by elected representatives, and the lack of coordination across government agencies. He demonstrated a strong understanding of the challenges on the ground - err something I especially appreciated as a school head, given the homework he had done :)
We joined him at Dommasandra & Gunjur, sharing our analysis based on lived experience and data from 61 GPS-tracked school bus routes: where delays occur, why they happen, and what each location needs to improve traffic flow and safety.
We handed over our full report on the ground - not simply that “traffic is bad,” but precisely which junction or stretch is affected, the causes of the problem, and the impact of fixes implemented over the past few days.
The Minister continued further down the corridor towards #Varthur , with a clear promise: “We will get things moving.”
This corridor carries nearly 40,000 children to school every day. A Minister choosing to stand on the road rather than discuss it in the comfort of a meeting room, is exactly the kind of engagement& governance we have been asking for.
A heartfelt thank you to our school parents & team members who have been working tirelessly to help find solutions & who joined us for the visit.
Thank you, Shri Krishna Byre Gowda, for making the time & listening. Thank you also to the @GBA_office, @blrcitytraffic & media who walked the stretch with us & are working hard to improve the situation
The data shows that the enforcement already in place is working. Now, let’s build on it, coordinate across agencies & make these improvements last!
Thank you also to the Inventure community @InventureK12 for being part of the solution. It is easy to be sceptical, play the victim, or complain… it is far more fulfilling to help create change.

Update 30 Sept 2026
Today’s #SH35 numbers show why we track every single day & not just the good ones.
Morning traffic held steady, with 43 of 61 routes arriving on time or early as the corridor recovered from a rain-hit Tuesday.
Evening traffic was a different story. Rain and congestion pushed 24 of 61 routes late, a significant step back from just six the day before. R9, serving Doddanekkundi, and R35, serving Seshadripuram, were the worst hit—79 and 73 minutes late respectively.
After school, our dedicated leadership team and staff—who absolutely love being on our beautiful campus—didn’t get so lucky. Those who left at 4:20 p.m. and live just 11–12 km away were still only just reaching home (more than 2 hrs later). One colleague had not even reached Marathahalli yet!
Here’s a visual from #Varthur.
(Despite water logging, people are riding on the wrong side of the road!). We have to help ourselves first by following rules, folks!
Ever entrepreneurial, our Inventurers were using the time on the bus to imagine vehicles that could be adapted to travel along roads—or even on water! Any takers?
This is exactly why we track every route, every day. Enforcement works when it holds, whatever the weather. We’ll keep sharing what the data shows

28 Sept 2026 update from “Blr’s school corridor” on #SH35—home to some of India’s best schools.
No Monday morning blues today: it was a relatively good day on the road.
Across our 61 school bus routes:
Morning: 45 reached school on time or early. Average arrival: 7:27 am. Late routes fell from 41 to 16 since 21 September.
Afternoon: 56 reached home on time or early, against the new 1:50 pm departure. Late routes fell from 21 to 5.
The Brigade Exotica–Old Madras Road route reached school in 59 minutes and home in 55 minutes - down from nearly 3 hours previously.
Thank you, @blrcitytraffic and @wftrps, for the increased ground presence and heavy-vehicle restrictions. These interventions are making a meaningful difference.
To sustain this progress, we need consistent police presence and traffic management, functioning signals, road repairs, drainage and waste-management infrastructure, and continued enforcement of heavy-vehicle restrictions.
Work remains on the Seshadripuram Law College and Doddanekkundi routes, which continue to run late.
We look forward to the official minutes and next steps following the GBA and Police Commissioners’ on-ground inspection and assessment, and to working together on lasting solutions.

Grateful for a morning on SH-35 with GBA Commissioner Sri M. Maheshwar Rao; Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Bengaluru City, Sri Karthik Reddy; Sri Lokhande Snehal Sudhakar, Additional Commissioner (Development), Bengaluru East; Sri RK Misra; B.CLIP leader Sri Ramesh; senior government and police officials; local civic leaders; media representatives; and my colleagues from Inventure Academy.
We had a purposeful visit to Hope Farm Junction and walked through Varthur Kodi, Varthur Police Station and Gunjur, examining the roads, bylanes, drains and sidewalks used daily by our children and thousands of residents.
Immediate traffic-flow measures were agreed on the spot, while longer-term solutions to the Whitefield–Sarjapur area’s urgent mobility needs were discussed, with broad consensus on the way ahead. #SH35
This is what good governance looks like: stakeholders working together, identifying problems, understanding different perspectives, agreeing on solutions and following through.
I look forward to the minutes and regular updates. Commitments must translate into completed work, with progress tracked and accountability maintained.
We are all #changemakers and we must all be part of the solution

One full week of tracking on SH-35
Evening: 93% of routes were not late, all week. Just 4 exceptions, each a single off day, not a pattern.
Morning: real but partial progress. 9 of 61 routes were late every single day, some outside the Varthur-Gunjur stretch entirely (Kodigehalli, Old Madras Rd, Attibele-Anekal Rd, Doddanekkundi) That's our target list for week 2.
We also checked what this week would have looked like at the old 2:20 PM departure: an average of 12 routes would have late every day, versus zero in the last 3 days. So the earlier dispersal is doing most of the work. But this schedule shift comes at a real cost for our students, amounting to a cumulative weekly loss of up to 10 hours for Beyond Academics activities & 2.5 hours of academic classes. Yet, 51% of routes held up all week even without it, showing genuine improvement on the road, not just the clock.
We need to build on the operational changes that the police & govt are making, while the govt finalises & implements mass mobility solutions & a more robust road network
Full breakdown, route by route: [https://t.co/1GLEyFGpUd]
Thank you @blrcitytraffic@wftrps@CPBlr@Jointcptraffic@DCPTrEastBCP for a week that actually held.

10km ride, nearly 2 hours on the road every day for schoolkids in Bengaluru https://t.co/N2psqBERrO via @timesofindia
When lived experience is backed by credible data, it becomes harder to ignore - and easier to solve
We sincerely thank the Govt of Karnataka, Bengaluru Traffic Police and civic leaders for listening and for the steps taken so far on the Varthur-Gunjur & Domassandra stretch on SH35 - including restricting heavy vehicles during school hours and strengthening traffic management. These interventions have already shown that improvement is possible when stakeholders work together
The next step is to sustain what works: repair damaged roads, address critical bottlenecks, complete pending infrastructure, and use data and technology to plan traffic flows more intelligently
This is not about assigning blame. It is about bringing schools, government, police, workplaces and communities together around a shared goal: safer, healthier and more time-efficient commutes for our children / citizens
Thank you to The Times of India for highlighting the issue and the possible solutions.

Ma’am please share a report what you & @ArvindLBJP have done as MLAs for your constituency. @PCMohanMP too
I have been working & living in the area for a long time! During this period, #Karnataka has seen several political parties form govt & had several CMs.
The two things that have been consistent
1) the #Whitefield area has had elected reps from BJP.
2) our standard of living has fallen to levels of a slum!
As a resident of the area, I am sure you are experiencing the same pathetic infrastructure & feeling pretty hopeless
Please work with all stakeholders, including the Congress. This is not the time to play politics
@BJP4India@BJP4Karnataka@INCIndia@MansoorKhanINC@CMofKarnataka@krishnabgowda
We desperately need help!
Children and teachers spent as much as 7 hours on the road getting to school and back home today. Sadly, this is not a one-off event
We urgently need to invest in mass mobility & public transport, a bigger road network - long term investments for an ever growing #Bengaluru.
And meanwhile, there are things we can do now:
• Keep heavy vehicles off key roads during school peak hours
• Enforce penalties for wrong-side driving & other traffic violations
• Incentivise school buses & shared transport over individual vehicles
• Collect real mobility data and use simulation / “what-if” analysis to determine optimal school & office timings
• Fix potholes, blocked drains & other bottlenecks urgently
This area is home to some of Bengaluru’s and India’s best schools. Their parents & educators have built Brand Blr. And these thousands of children will power the future of our city & country
Surely we can do better for them & for the teachers, parents, staff & citizens who are losing hours of their lives on our roads every day. This needs both immediate action and long-term planning
I believe all stakeholders want what’s right for our citizens & city. So here’s hoping, praying … working collaboratively towards effective solutions
Drainage near Varthur-Gunjur Main Rd needs urgent fix. It's a busy spot with school buses, and heavy traffic even traffic cops are struggling to stand and work. Rainy season hasn’t even started — pls act fast!.
