Moving towards in-person learning, I'd like to incorporate video instruction into my daily lessons. It frees up time spent repeating instructions and gives students the agency to pace their learning. Over time, students learn how to self-regulate their learning.

Whether ELA or math, students who need extra support benefit from presenting their learning in various ways. Students can express their thoughts through labeled drawings versus the standard paragraph. In math, students can record a Flipgrid to share how they solved a problem.

Not prioritizing social studies instruction can have detrimental effects on the future of American democracy. Through social studies instruction, students learn how to appropriately engage in discourse and value evidence when creating an argument.

The article "Engaged or Not Engaged... That is the Question" provided practical strategies educators could implement to increase student engagement. There needs to be a balance of behavioral, emotional, and cognitive engagement in order to avoid disengagement.

To promote clarity and meaning making, students can create a visual representation of the content they're learning. This strategy caught my eye since it gives students a break from being on their computers. 😃
