28. Burning Dolomites
"An apocalyptic scenario that only Mother Nature could choreograph" -Photographer Dorian Pellumbi
"Enrosadira", a Ladin term meaning "to turn pink," refers to the Dolomite peaks' color change at sunset, shifting from orange to red and then to purple.
You have to live with your mistakes, but you don't have to compound them.
To follow up an error with a foolish reaction is to lose twice. Given the reality of where you are right now, what is the best next action?
A wise response may not erase a dumb mistake, but it can redeem it.
On the latest Huberman Lab episode, @tonyhawk and I discuss success in skateboarding (and life) and that it isn't always about being a 'natural.' It's about relentless drive, discipline, and the will to rise whenever you fall. Natural talent counts, but showing up, striving, and pushing through the friction — that's what makes the real difference.
There are 3 primary drivers of results in life:
1) Your luck (randomness).
2) Your strategy (choices).
3) Your actions (habits).
Only 2 of the 3 are under your control.
But if you master those 2, you can improve the odds that luck will work for you rather than against you.
This is a potent 3 step daily:
1 -3min cold shower or plunge immediately after waking up (AWA).
5-30min of viewing sunlight ASAPAWA
(There is always *some* sun, folks, even if through cloud cover).
Resistance train, or endurance work or sprints, 6 days/week. (Notice “or”).
@aschiavone I feel like those are two entirely separate departments, and as such, maybe the homicide detectives or whatever they’re called need to read some meters for a while. Ngl this sounds like a great sitcom! 🤗
