@NordVPN When will you fix the bug that makes the macOS client forget the Dedicated IP subscription? The bug, which your support has acknowledged, was introduced several months ago in macOS NordVPN client version 8.24.0, rendering the Dedicated IP service useless.
@Gman6506048154 @themoneyhunney @robreiner Why so? The Vietnam War was a mistake, largely because of a misunderstanding between our leadership at the time and theirs. Watch The Fog of War, where Robert McNamara is being lengthily interviewed. I wouldn't fault anyone who didn't want to go fight there.
@NordVPN @ramboelmeio Apparently, newly launched/enforced service credentials needed to be created and used instead. @NordVPN Why not state this publicly: "You must set up service credentials in the NordVPN web console to continue to use OpenVPN connections to NordVPN!" Lots of effort saved for all!
@NordVPN Ok, that worked. Thank you. Apparently, this new feature was just enabled since the regular credentials worked until yesterday. Why was there no email notification about this beforehand?
@NordVPN @ramboelmeio Same here (emailed support 2h15min ago). @NordVPN It's better to be transparent about technical problems; this is clearly something that affects OpenVPN users wholesale.
@ace10lotus@CNN Harsher punishments for violent crimes may be necessary, but they're also part of the rougher society that is being built and are unlikely to thwart hotheads reaching for their guns. Furthermore, as it stands, the U.S. prison system is 100% penative and 0% rehabilitative.
@ace10lotus@CNN Individuals usually look at it from their own perspective, not from the statistical/societal perspective. This may be why the condition of the very individualistic U.S. society is what it is. We went down the slippery slope. In U.K. (and AUS & NZ) people gave lots of guns away.
@ace10lotus@CNN Non-stored/locked firearms will then continue random deaths caused by kids finding firearms or older kids taking them to school. Like I said, it's a rough society already, and will become rougher still.
@ace10lotus@CNN Yeah, it is terrible. But how do you propose to stop it? I can't see that increasing gun ownership will ultimately help. It will, however, eventually lead to some kind of libertarian anarchy. Perhaps that is inevitable for the U.S. at this point.
@ace10lotus@CNN I'm sure, but I think there has to be a "cost/benefit analysis" done on this. If easy public carry saves a handful of people from blade violence yet at the same time increasing shooting deaths by several hundred percent, it's just not worth it.
@ace10lotus@CNN Properly stored/locked guns in the house for home protection can be argued for (with sufficient training, checks & permits in place). Everybody walking around with a gun under their belt can not.
@ace10lotus@CNN What would help is not fixed with guns but fundamentally changing society. Unfortunately, there are no signs that such sweeping changes would happen anytime soon. No political will, or even interest to such end. It's sad.
@ace10lotus@CNN In this, you're right. There is no way to get guns out of the hands of criminals and, consequently, from most of the legally gun-owning population. I'm afraid for the U.S. it is too late. The U.S. started out as the Wild West, and it may well end as the Wild West (and East).
@ace10lotus@CNN And asking what would be acceptable solution for the U.S. in terms of reducing gun violence is not a rhetorical question... unless you're of the opinion that things are just jolly and nothing needs to be done, except maybe people could acquire more guns. We'll see how that works.
