In today's episode length podcast footnote I review the method of church governance at the time of Gregory's ascention to popehood. Because I know what the kids are into.

A bit of a reset episode after a long gap in which I got some new sources. Going back over the early years of Hildebrand, a bit of catch up on the house of Tuscany, etc. This is part one of three.

@DLoesch Rhode Island has one of the lowest gun crime rates in the country as well. We had two homicides this year before yesterday. Facts don't care about your feelings.
@Angelba35539531@FoxNews So, before this incident there were two gun homicides so far in 2025. The five year average is something like 12 total homicides. We have the lowest gun ownership rate in the country and that has translated into very low rates of gun deaths and a very safe city for its size.
@PavePlanet@mmpadellan Are you saying we deserve it or are you under some illusion that the gun laws of the smallest state in the country have anything to do with the ability of people here to get guns?
Btw, with IS 2026 rapidly coming together, we still have speaking slots but they are not going to last forever. If you are a nonfiction podcaster or content creator, HMU. Especially if you have a round table idea!
Anyone who is accusing the entire Gen z of a behavior of any kind needs to fuck right off an possibly die. They did that shit to us an it was totally stupid. Stop it. Stop it. Stop.
In part 2 of my discussion with Gregg, we examine the concept of Papal supremacy in the middle ages based on the evidence already discussed in the show, and how the modern Catholic Church might feel about it in terms of later doctrinal developments.

Happy 100 to me! This is a special episode where I discuss Catholicism with Gregg from the Popeular History Podcast. Fun Fact: This episode was recorded during the sede vacante between the death of Francis and the election of Leo XIV.
