@japan_nobunaga Certain cities effectively decriminalized minor theft below a certain $ amount. Police won't respond, and suspects won't be charged.
This had the exact effect you would expect but somehow they keep getting elected anyway.
@SandyofCthulhu@gamerhardG@SandyofCthulhu What did you think of Sierra OnLine's practice of naming things with the creators name in the title? Would a law firm-esque approach to naming studios better reflect the reality?
@fandompulse Blizzard, id, etc, don't exist anymore as they did when they earned their legendary status. They are zombies shambling on. The ownership, leadership, and most of the staff have all changed several times over.
All we see is the man turn around and then this punk attack him from behind.
Whatever the situation, this guy, lacking self control, escalated it to violence. Honor has nothing to do with what your opponent does, but how your own actions reflect upon you.
Maybe the guy, like most people, deserved a punch to the face, but there is no great victory or glory in attacking someone unaware.
@rokkbert@klara_sjo It does appear with werewolves more often, but for the same reasons of it being holy in folklore.
An alternative for mirrors is that they reflect the soul and vampires have no soul. This comes from roman traditions if you wanted to keep the idea but not have silver play a role.
@rokkbert@klara_sjo I think tying the myth to its actual origin is far more interesting. A protagonist that doesn't realize modern mirrors would not work to detect vampires can lead to some fun twists for example.
And it ties back into the mythology surrounding silver in a variety of other stories.
@rokkbert@klara_sjo Traditionaly they have been portrayed as such. The mirror is due to silver being seen as a holy metal and its use in creating old mirrors, nothing to do with their interaction with light.
This also means almost all modern silver-free mirrors would reflect them just fine.
@SandyofCthulhu@Demeterus98682 I would find it funny to have a fat character whose abilities actually reflected it. Slower speed, less stamina, if diabetic prone to low blood sugar spikes from exertion. I say this as a fat diabetic. If you want that character, don't glorify it, lean into it.
@jwsherrod Sith have impacted entire planets and ships in the expanded universe. And threatened to do much worse before being stopped. The force doesn't seem the limiting factor. The force user seems to be the limiting factor, though it isn't well established why. Midichlorians perhaps.
@kangminlee "Seeking both legal and physical custody..."
How would one get legal but not physical custody except if he were to kidnap them? Why is that a distinction?
