@sawsharkman@MotherOfRays Oh awesome. We did some stuff with baby PJs and they were impacted. I bet there would be a difference in how pelagic vs benthic species react.
"As the oceans warm, many marine species are on the move to keep pace with their preferred environmental conditions – and it’s having a profound effect on the structure and function of the ecosystems they leave behind and those they move into. ..."

@simonpierce@imogenscott@IMASUTAS@GrettaPecl@curt_champ Interesting. Ya, absolutly. Honestly any info in elasmos is great. There is some info out there, but its mostly vagrants (like tigers off Tassie, or mantas/whale sharks off Rottnest Is. WA).
Nearly 200 Australian #marine species are known to be on the move b/c of climate change, but this is only the "tip of the iceberg".
Fantastic press release by @IMASUTAS on our new paper. https://t.co/nhqKzaTNfE @GrettaPecl@curt_champ
@simonpierce@imogenscott@IMASUTAS@GrettaPecl@curt_champ Ya, I have heard that around, seems to be the general consensus for them, especially the mobile ones. Have the ones you are looking at breeding south of their known dist. yet? Im excited to hear more about it.
We know many #marine#species are #redistributing around #Australia, but with the scale of the continent, there are many regions we have no information about.

@MotherOfRays There are quite a few records now of sharks with malformations and behavioural aberrations. I am not sure how many are genetic. The ones I have seen have been due to developmental issues/ environmental.
Hot off the press: A continental scale review of range shifts in Australian marine systems finds 198 species on the move since 2003, with 87% of redistributions occurring in a poleward direction! #SpeciesOnTheMove

Tropical fishes extend ranges into temperate zones during heatwaves.
New study shows the distance extended depends largely on whether habitat generalists or specialists.
