I am a mother, singer, writer, poet, and teacher. Advocate for my daughter @hk_wall BFA MT Class of 22 Sleep in peace, James & John Woodson! We love you 4ever.
I apologize for sounding mean when discussing topics. I spent my childhood in silence (except for singing in church or giving speeches in class). I make up for my quietness by typing on social media and talking incessantly now.
@theDRAMAgoat1 This should also include "made threats to harm school employee" because I've seen this happen, too, and the kid still comes back to the school.
@belle4beau @yeahhitstori You were her constant...her norm that made her anxiety bearable. I was that for my mom. My teachers had to intervene my senior year to make sure I didn't fail due to the attendance policy.
I can empathize with you on this one.
Cord Jefferson calling out Hollywood during his Oscar speech…hell yes
“Instead of making one $200 million movie, try making twenty $10 million movies or fifty $4 million movies”
That’s why I didn’t pay too much attention to the whole Barbie snub thing…
Like, Greta, as a director, will be fine. Margot will be fine. They’re going to get the scripts and the jobs and funding.
But look at how Ava had to struggle to get funding for Origin. And Academy Award Nominee Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor was passing out flyers for the film and was overlooked.
Soooo
The biggest upset for Black and Brown artists is not always losing the Oscar it’s the face sometimes they don’t get the material to get them back most of the time.
Emma got Lala Land and Poor Things.
Cillian Murphy will get more scripts…
Christopher Nolan is gonna get another $100 million dollar budget film.
But for Black and POC artists—it’s always slim to none. #Oscar
