Wally Lawless

I build stuff, both physically and virtually. Solving challenges every day. Currently Web Eng Lead and Staff Engineer @wattpad.

@bartekci I am very-much behind…

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@unbrelievable If it’s real, it’s a kind of clever way to get people to actually read it, not that I approve of the trickery.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@carlglewis @matteocollina @WillDady @_msw_ @travisci Finally got around to deploying this change, it totally worked! Saves us many minutes on deploy builds. Going to write up something quick on how I got it working with TravisCI. Thanks for the tip!

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@carlglewis @matteocollina @WillDady @_msw_ @travisci Interesting! I’ll give it a try and let you know. Would be a huge savings for us.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@matteocollina @WillDady @_msw_ I configured @travisci to log into AWS and get a token before installing dependencies. Unfortunately, it also means that it invalidates our Docker layer cache on each deploy, so deploys take longer and cause more bytes being transferred to the k8s cluster.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@matteocollina We use it to host our Component Library privately. The fact that you can’t have long-lived access tokens makes configuring CI/CD & Docker image builds more complicated than I would like. You also pay by bandwidth, so as your team grows it costs more.

[Ben Orenstein @r00k]

Hard to believe, but I just posted *4* open positions at @tuple:

* Head of Sales
* Product Designer
* Head of Marketing
* Support Engineer

(All full-time and remote.)

Hiring these folks is my #1 priority, and I'd love to be introed to anyone you think would be great.

Thanks!

@KevGCallahan Gyms… that’s cute... Wicked job though!

[rands @rands]

Leaders. There will be days where it feels eveything is broken.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@bartekci haha! It's mostly an excuse for the guys to go burn stuff, drink beer and eat too much😀. Gear-wise we've done a bunch, tents wrapped in tarps🥶, renting a Yurt or renting a hot-tent🔥. All have their pros and cons.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@matteocollina yep, it's unfortunate when modules don't end up being handed off to a new maintainer, but sometimes that's the price we need to pay.

Devs watching QA test the product

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

Big day 😃

[Wattpad @wattpad]

A new chapter in our story is about to be written, and we're not writing it alone... We’re thrilled to announce our board has approved an agreement to be acquired by Naver, home of @webtoonofficial! Read the exciting news → https://t.co/xgwGtD4nVz

@applesforakbar I’ve never intentionally created a Facebook account, only ever gained’ them via acquisition... (WhatsApp/Instagram) it sucks. Users never have a say where their data ends up during these sorts of mergers.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@applesforakbar It looks like something from the SNES era!

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@KevGCallahan and I thought Airpods Pro were expensive...

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@pantopicon Why do I feel like I just finished the last one?.... oh... right, ‘cause I just did!

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@geteero the same is true for your new Cyber Monday code. None of them work in any browser I've tried on a Mac.

[Wally Lawless @Wallylawless]

@geteero The promotion code you emailed me for Black Friday isn't working on your website, getting a Javascript error in the console: Help!
