Is it me, or are reporters getting dumber? Both the host and the reporter on @WHYYNews this morning mispronounced the name of Supreme Court Chief Justice Roger Taney (of Dred Scott infamy). Didn’t we all learn this in high school? Hate the man, but at least get the name right.

There are times when you should stay and times when you should leave. In churches where there’s a congregational form of government, it’s worth an effort to force out a bad pastor. In churches where you have no say, your only option is to leave. The excesses of these new proposals point out the insanity of “traditional” real estate property taxes. You pay based on unrealized gain, improbable value in many cases �� and if the housing market goes bust, you don’t get any refunds. The insanity comes to light the further removed from physical assets you get.

Those “several pieces of expensive equipment” is in reality 2/3 of the items selected for a sampled spot audit. Which if you extrapolate across all the schools and the full inventory… means they can’t find hundreds of millions of dollars of equipment. I don’t have a clue why everybody is ignoring this, it’s a big deal.

Imagine if the police department did a spot check of its weapon inventory and found 97 of 147 guns “not able to be located.” And then went on to say…

The whole article is “nothing to see here”. It even explains “walking” like stuff just got misplaced. That’s not what the speaker meant, we all know it.

Hey @newskag , NBC10 did a puff piece on an SDP equipment audit that found only $300k in missing items and “no”evidence of theft.

It was a spot audit of 147 items, 96 of which could not be located. Seems to me like this is 2/3 missing, and extrapolated would be a HUGE issue.
