Time and time again I see struggling families where all the Ministry will offer is placing their kids in care when often all they need are more modest interventions like childcare, respite, or in-home parenting help. This is better for kids and more cost effective for taxpayers.

If you’re wondering why there’s no child psychiatry beds in Saskatchewan, consider these fun facts:

There’s 33% fewer beds in the province than in 2020.

Of the beds we have, 40% are filled with kids who don’t need to be there but are waiting for Social Services to find a home.
