On the myth that persons with albinism are a source of wealth, Olive stated that
60% of families with #albinism in Uganda live below the poverty line.
“If indeed we are a source of wealth, wouldn’t we therefore be the wealthiest people in Uganda? But we aren’t,” @Olivenamutebi.
Men, women and adolescents some times face domestic violence and GBV and they keep silent. Because of the stress around they end up developing mental health disorders . Don't dey in silence speak out looking for help is the best ❣️ for a strong mind
Social media platforms have helped many advocates to share their activism ideas responsibly to various people, officers and government agencies and their voices have been hard
“I learned how to use my smartphone for digital advocacy on social media, and now I feel more confident to speak out and share my ideas,” one participant shared proudly.

Anxiety in men doesn’t always look like panic.
It looks like anger, silence, overworking, and “I’m fine”.
Swipe → 5 signs it’s showing up in you or the men around you.
Noticing it is the first step. Talking is the next.
You don’t have to carry it alone.

@AlexOgwal5@MinofHealthUG@BaryomunsiChris I stand in solidarity to demand at least one sign language interpretor in every health center because this is an inqaulity and a right violention in UNCRPD #NUDIP#CRPD which talks about equal opportunities

In this video, I was sharing my thoughts about the daily challenge Deaf people face when accessing healthcare services. In normal setting, like what we term as being normal, whenever a #Deaf patient visits a hospital for consultation, or treatment; even before meeting a doctor, the Deaf person has to part with approximately Ugx. 50,000 depending on the duration.
This makes access of medical services which is their fundamental human right twice or thrice more expensive. So, because of this, sometimes Deaf patients choose to stay home, or stop getting treatment leading to deteriorating health.
However, not all hope is lost, as I have explained in the video, our innovation Deaf Access App enables Deaf patients to access instant sign language interpretation using Video Remote Interpretation the first of its kind in #Africa.
Would you love to know more about it, I am happy to share more. You can also check google playstore and download the app by simply searching for DeafAccess App.

Celebrating diversity in all its forms, we join the world in marking International Albinism Awareness Day.
This year's theme, "Proudly in My Skin: Celebrating All Skin Tones," reminds us that diversity is a strength and that every individual deserves to be valued, respected, and included, regardless of their skin color or appearance.
As we mark this day, let us stand against discrimination, while promoting a society where persons with albinism can live free from stigma, access equal opportunities, and participate fully in all aspects of community life.
