Had directed the officials to rejuvenate this water body, during my first visit to Matho on April 17, when this water body was completely dead and muck-filled. Today, it stands revived and fully functional – storing 25 to 30 million litres of precious glacier-melt water, up from 15 million litres capacity earlier.

The water body would cater to 150 acres of agricultural land, thereby bolstering local water and agricultural security.

With this, we have successfully operationalized 03 large water bodies across Ladakh since April 10, under the ambitious Project Him Sarovar, which is aligned with Hon’ble PM, Shri @narendramodi ji’s vision of water conservation for future security.

Step by step, we are ensuring long-term water security and paving the way for a resilient, self-reliant, and prosperous Ladakh.
