As someone who works on systems supporting over 20M active users and more than 2B transactions daily, I find it deeply frustrating that KRA systems still become unusable at the most predictable time of the year.
The last-minute rush is not a surprise. It is practically a Kenyan tradition. KRA knows it will happen. Taxpayers know it will happen. Everyone knows it will happen.
Yet every year, the system still collapses when people need it most.
For the last 3 to 4 days, access has been painfully unreliable, which raises a serious question:
Does KRA have Reliability Engineers?
Because by any reasonable estimate, we are not talking about tens of millions of people trying to file at the same time. We are likely talking about fewer than 1M active users putting pressure on the system.
@tinkerDigital we build systems designed for scale, reliability, and real-world traffic spikes.
@KRACare , my company Tinker Digital would gladly solve this yearly problem for you.
And we will put our money where our mouth is:
If the systems we design for you do not scale under agreed load and reliability targets, we will refund every shilling paid to us in service fees.
Reliability is not magic. It is engineering.

🧵NTSA's instant fines system is live. Speed cameras on most corridors. Fines hitting phones via SMS. Sh3,000–Sh10,000 per offence. 7 days to pay or interest accrues & you're locked off NTSA platforms.
Let's talk about why this is less about road safety & more about revenue.
@denniskioko The poor signage is a massive problem. No one refuses tp comply but if road safety is the real aim, then surely proper signage should be the bare minimum? Saw this in Rwanda and it's EVERYWHERE. Why can't we do the same?
I was listening to the founding Director General of NTSA on the radio earlier this week. He was saying he doesn't understand why Kenyans are opposed to the instant fines system. I cannot speak for every Kenyan but, for me, my view is this: You cannot go ahead and enforce such...
🚨Days ago he posted this pathetic story a "special thanks" to Villa and Barcelona for "believing in me when things got tough". Clearly a dig at United and United fans.
First off, Manchester United made him who he is right now. Our academy nurtured him, and our fans lifted him up since his early days, hyped him to the moon, supported him through every single dip, and backed him to the hills. And how does he repay that?
The funniest part about this is how fast the tables have turned and how Barca have treated him, like he was never good enough in the first place. The amount of disrespect thrown his way after everything he did for them is honestly crazy.
Barca do actually have the cash to spend and have already bought Anthony Gordon for 70m+. They have the money! They just don’t think he is worth the money. Imagine taking shots at your boyhood club just to be told by Flick and Barca that you're not worth the financial effort.
Now he’s facing the very real, embarrassing reality of having to crawl back to Old Trafford with his tail between his legs, looking for another desperate loan move on deadline day because nobody wants to touch his United wages.
Nevertheless, I still don't want Marcus Rashford back at Manchester United. I genuinely don't want this turning into another Cristiano Ronaldo situation, where the balance of the project gets disrupted. The last thing I want is anything negatively affecting Michael Carrick's project before it has even had a chance to fully settle. INEOS must find a solution for him. #MUFC
Here’s how, you are employed and renting in Roysambu but own a plot in Kamulu. You want to escape paying rent so you call a fundi to do budget for putting up a house on the plot. Fundi’s budget comes to 3million. You take a 3m loan against your salary to build your dream home….
@nico_laqua@danywander@UseCorgi Nico, I gotta admit this is one of those rare Twitter moments where the second logo is in fact MUCH better than the original and you should probably listen to the consumers on here rather than thinking you’re smarter than the literal free focus group right in front of you.
hey, @UseCorgi
i have zero problems with your ceo working 7 days a week, it is up to him, but as a designer i can't stand bad design.
long story short - i fixed your logo.
now it's your turn.
if you need i can send you svg. just use it.
The recent safaricom changes to Home Fibre appear good on paper but in reality, they are terrible. I can barely load instagram when using home fibre. Strangely, Netflix and YouTube on TV work well.
I keep coming back to the "Doorman fallacy" when I hear about how Harvard has hired McKinsey to help it fire up to 25% of its staff without asking anyone what they actually do.
