Today, December 11th, at least 50 engineering professionals finalised a five-day intensive training on soft skills.
The training was organized by the Institution of Engineers Rwanda (IER) in collaboration with the Royal Academy of Engineering through the Africa Catalyst Project.
Mr. Steven SABITI, the CEO/Executive Secretary, officially closed the training and commended the Royal Academy of Engineering for funding the Africa Catalyst Project,
and Tasks Africa for leading the training sessions.
Eng Jean Bosco Mugiraneza, DG in charge of Energy at @RwandaInfra: 10 years ago, Rwanda had less than one percent of off-grid energy prenetration and 21 percent on-grid.
Today, we have 21% off-grid and 87% on-grid, and this growth was facilitated by political will to ensure all citizens access reliable energy.
#GECO2024
On the margins of #GECO2024, an MoU was signed between the Chairman of the Governing Council of IER and Elie Kharrat, a partner at DAR - a global engineering consultancy firm - to partner on capacity building
On Day 4️⃣, participants of the Global Engineering Conference #GECO2024 toured some of the big engineering projects in #Rwanda, including ongoing ones such as Bugesera International Airport & Nyabarongo II Multipurpose Dam, among others, to see what @RwandaGov is undertaking.
Yesterday, IER’s Women in Engineering Chapter @WomenWiE was hosted by @isomo_rw Bootcamp during a Lunch & Learn session providing a great opportunity for the chapter to connect with young minds, discussing the importance of STEM in today’s world and its role in empowering women. A productive discussion with the Isomo team about future collaboration was also held, looking forward to inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders together. #WomenInSTEM #IER #Collaboration

To quote President #Kagame: "Liberation was not about restoring the past, but creating something fundamentally new and better for all Rwandans."
While speaking at the Engineering Convention and Annual General Assembly 2023 earlier today, @RwandaEngineers Executive Secretary @Sabiti1Steven urged members to strive for engineering solutions that will shape a sustainable and prosperous future for generations to come.
President and Chairperson of @RwandaEngineers, Gentil Kangaho: "As engineers, we have a pivotal role to play in enhancing engineering and driving the implementation of the Rwandan Vision 2050."
Six categories of our members:

Practicing without a valid licence from @RwandaEngineers is against the law.
Vivien Munyaburanga, a senior member of @RwandaEngineers with vast experience in urban infrastructure, is leading the training.
The father of two is also a lecturer at the University of Rwanda since 2005, and president of the Rwanda Urban Planners Institute (RUPI).
The @RwandaEngineers Executive Secretary, @Sabiti1Steven, also encouraged members to attend the upcoming Engineering Convention and Annual General Assembly that will take place on June 30, 2023, at Kigali Convention Centre.
During his opening remarks, our Executive Secretary @Sabiti1Steven appreciated the participating members, and urged them to take advantage of these training opportunities whenever they are organised.
He underlined that they help them to stay relevant in the engineering field.
The training is in line with @RwandaEngineers' mandate of capacity building for our members. We organise at least three such events every year.
Participants also earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) credits that they need for renewing their practicing licenses.
