@jayplemons@JM4LISD This particular area has nearly 1/4 of residents over the age of 65. It's an 8 min walk from the train station and 20 mins walk from a major hospital, along with numerous other doctors offices nearby. I would not be surprised to find pharmacies here.
@micsolana The problem is that the party that opposes the one that supposedly hates me is actively destroying America in different ways. You've got portions saying we should ban all immigrants. Destroying fundamental govt research and other programs that generally benefited builders.
@MsDoreenReads@DanielLurie I mean it's not impossible to leave on any normal day. And if it was impossible to leave that would imply it's impossible to get to π
@bettersoma@sfchronicle Yeah I'm surprised they said it in 2016. And just saying that the Chron's call for more resources brought us more tourists. We need oversight on the resources we have. Chron needs to keep saying it.
@BrandonHarami Except Banko Brown wasn't shot in the back, they were shot in the chest. And they were shot in the chest because they were advancing on a guard after threatening to stab them.
@Twolfrecovery They demanded more money for services. What did SF get? An influx of tourists with nearly 1/3 having lived in SF for less than a year. And 1/3 came either looking for services or just cause they decided to stay. Housing unaffordability is a prob but 1/3 are here for free stuff.
@marcjoffe@se_slaughter2 SF got an influx of drug tourists in 2024. Nearly 1/3 from the homeless PIT count were in SF for less than a year, 1/3 came either looking for services or cause they just decided to stay.
@v63sfx@DavidSCuadro@dmalcolmcarson Here's the data from the 2024 PIT count in case you think I am making stuff up. We will see what the 2026 count says.
@v63sfx@DavidSCuadro@dmalcolmcarson The politics of what? I use the term tourists because 33% of homeless surveyed came because they traveled here and decided to stay, or because they were explicitly looking for homeless services. 32% of homeless surveyed had been here less than a year.
@v63sfx@DavidSCuadro@dmalcolmcarson Nordstrom was consistently unprofitable in Canada and the luxury market there is much softer than the US. I am talking specifically about the dynamics of the San Francisco retail market.
Why is it you have a hard time believing support for drug tourists harms the economy?
@v63sfx@DavidSCuadro@dmalcolmcarson How odd then that when I talked to retail workers and asked "So are you closing because of foot traffic," the answer always came back as "No, it's the rampant shoplifting". That's not the "corporate press release," that's the people running the register and stocking shelves.
