@NYCMayor I thought you were in control of the NYPD... Why are we spending another $1 BILLION in OT this year? Why is low-level enforcement still up? Why are we hiring more cops, and not firing ones like Lt. Jonathan Rivera and Wayne Isaacs who each KILLED unarmed fathers? Shame!
On public land, we must maximize affordable housing. We desperately need more housing that working families can actually afford.
We are pushing for a lot more affordable housing at the proposed Monitor Point in Greenpoint. Tune into the land use hearing tomorrow, May 27th.
It's hard to believe that today marks 6yrs since we've lost our dear ally & comrade #NikitaPrice. 🕊️
If he were still here, he would be with us in the streets, copwatching, leading chants, standing behind the families, and lobbying.
We miss him and send love to his family.
"It’s time to take Parkash out of the building and give tenants an opportunity to purchase it with the support from the bank, the city and organizations. We tenants do not want our rents to go to another abusive landlord’s pockets." @ChhayaCDC#PassCOPA

Repairing supportive housing units is important.
But what isn't being talked about are the deep reforms needed to the supportive housing "referral" process, which plays a significant role in vacancies.
Reforms to ensure enforceable anti-discrimination practices are critical.
Thank you, @NYCMayor, for standing with tenants & neighborhoods facing speculative investment that’s driving working-class New Yorkers out of the city.
COPA will enable CLTs to bring more land & housing into tenant & community control, preserving affordability for the long term.
For years, New Yorkers have been priced out of their own neighborhoods as outside investors have profited.
With @CMSandyNurse's COPA legislation, when many apartment buildings go up for sale, tenants and nonprofits would have a chance to buy the building before investors.
I'm proud to support COPA, grateful for Councilmember Nurse's partnership, and looking forward working with City Council to pass this important bill.
@WestHarlm@NYCMayor@CMSandyNurse The data meaningless for the 1950s comparison. There were relatively few people of color coming to the US between 1924-1965. Current data show that NYC has lost 200,000 Black people, many pushed out by high housing costs. https://t.co/WoLoJQkkzQ
@WestHarlm@NYCMayor@CMSandyNurse Two things: 1st Copa just allows community organizations and tenants to put in a bid and try to meet a counter offer. 2nd, New York was whiter in the 1950s because in the 1920s the US restricted immigration from non-European countries. This comparison hasn’t worked in 60 years.

Horrifying.
Israel bombed a residential building in Toul, South Lebanon.
Paramedics rushed inside to save civilians trapped under the rubble.
Israel waited for them to enter.
Then dropped another bomb on them.
Israel is hunting down and assassinating medical rescuers.
Israel just wiped out an entire family today in Salsakiyeh, South Lebanon.
13 civilians murdered inside the same house where they had taken refuge from Israeli bombs.
Children. Women. Men. All massacred.
This is not a “ceasefire.”
It is the systematic slaughter of civilians.
The Trump-Hochul budget would kick 470,000 New Yorkers off their healthcare and force the city to cut $5.4 billion worth of essential services - the equivalent of shuttering every library and park in the city.
Tax the rich, Kathy.
New York — Two years after students occupied Hamilton Hall (naming it "Hind's Hall" in ode to the little girl killed by Israeli forces), Columbia students & faculty are demonstrating on campus, honoring Palestinian scholars killed by Israel's genocide.

BREAKING
Israel is blowing up entire civilian homes in Aadshit al-Qusayr, South Lebanon right now — during a ceasefire.
Civilian homes.
No justification.
Just deliberate terror and destruction to ensure civilians have nothing left to return to.
A war crime in broad daylight.
