@ShuttleAlmanac It is not about experience. It is about mission specialty. Example: there are only a few astronauts who have worked with Blue Origin on their lander systems. And yes, specific things like this meant none of the female astronauts were able to meet the SPECIFIC standards.
@Catalina1016@Astro_Jeremy What difference does it make? We are all humans at the end of the day. Unless you think astronauts should be given positions based on gender and not merit?
@Marooonhaze That is objectively false. American women have been going into space since 1983. There is nothing stopping women, nor any other person, from accomplishing their goals. Over 100 women have already been to space!
@christinafied You have NO IDEA what went into the astronaut selection. They selected the most specialized and qualified astronauts for THIS PARTICULAR MISSION. You degrade the accomplishments of these women by wanting them to be on a mission JUST BECAUSE OF THEIR GENDER.
@Marooonhaze It is an irrelevant box when you have no IDEA what went into astronaut selection for this mission. You are saying that there should never ever be an all men crew, because you will just assume it's "inequality".
@icarus2urcert STOP TALKING ABOUT GENDER. You degrade the accomplishments of female astronauts when you advocate for them to be given roles SOLELY based on gender.
@ACarl8610@KenKirtland17 There is not Mark 1.5. This is just a prototype Mark 2. They did this so they don't have to waste so much resources for a spacecraft that won't even go to the moon. This prototype is not capable of landing humans on the moon.
@DarnPersce@FastSloth87@Mookafish The point is to reduce reliance on SLS rocket. Currently it costs over $2 billion just to launch it once, and it can only be launched once per year. By eliminating the SLS rocket, Starship (which is much cheaper) can perform the same role essentially while also needing less fuel.
@Sci_Dalek Why can't you be happy for these astronauts? Only the best and most capable astronauts for the mission should be selected. I guarantee you not a single female astronaut is whining like you are now.
@Quadrophonic_@mylifeisbeige@DJSnM HLS will not be using SuperDracos. They are developing a different hot gas thruster system that uses gaseous methane boil off from the main tanks.
