Now for my go to. @Ardbeg’s “Oogie”. Lots of amazing layers. Xmas cake, bacon, braai smoke, soetkoekies, fudge, iodene, coffee. This is as perfect as a dram can be imo. Finish is long, wanting more..my desert island scotch. 9.5/10 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Now for the maverick. The boys from @Bruichladdich. This is the in your face, smack with a baseball bat…dont like me then f**k off contender. Strong abv, dry with asian spices and ash. Really opens with a few drops of water. When you feel like it…nothing else will do. 8.5/10
Right now we visit the youngest distillery…@Kilchomanwhisky. Sherry cask and peat to my palette is a match made in heaven. Braai smoke / rich / stewed fruits that come and go. Finish isnt long but really toffee like that is very satisfying. Solid 7.5/10 👌🏻
Let’s start with the king…Lagavulin 16:
Refined, medicinal(tcp’ish if you know what it is), hints of soft spices floating in the background. But super balanced. Finish is loong but smooth. Solid 9/10. It wears the crown for a reason. 👌🏻
Doing a bit of a scotch tour around Islay lately. Peat is love of hate…and well Islay is the home of peat. Also introducing jaans to the magic of a well crafted dram. Here it goes…
