Zionism means the Jewish people having a right to live in the biblical homeland of Israel. "Zion" derives from Mt. Zion where G-d dwells. What you are referring to is how the Arab League planned their victory parades too early and said the Arabs need to leave the area then they can come back after a victory. The Jews then won the war and said in Israel's Declaration of Independence that the Arabs who stayed can now be citizens.
