@EYakoby@JewishSpaceLazr It’s lying, but certainly not unprecedented. Take, for example, the “Russian collusion” lying by Adam Schiff and Eric Swalwell, and Richard Blumenthal’s stolen valor.
I am very critical of settler violence and think Israel needs to do far more to punish it. But that’s not what this is about.
So what appears to have happened here was an intentional political stunt by someone who has built his entire career on stunts.
@RoKhanna had his Palestinian guides take him into a restricted area that is closed off to civilians without requesting access or coordinating with anyone.
Local security (which Khanna intentionally misrepresents as random settlers) then stopped them. IDF arrived and spent time evaluating the situation. Then Israeli police showed up, determined what had happened, and let them go on their way.
No one was hurt or attacked. No one was threatened. Khanna knew going to a restricted area would get a response and he got exactly what he wanted.
I will note that if a random group goes onto a military restricted area in the U.S., they would also be detained and questioned.
Israel is to blame for letting Khanna plan out this stunt, but that’s exactly what it was. And it was predictably coordinated with the press as he had a NYT photographer with him and waited until they released a story days later to even post about it.
Khanna wants to run for president on this nonsense because he has nothing to offer Americans.
Thread. We’re about to cross the 25-year-line since the massacre at a @Sbarro pizzeria that changed everything for the victims and their families. And turned the atrocity’s Jordanian mastermind into an icon - a celebrity who makes concrete the joy of murdering Jewish children.
As we mark 25 years since #AhlamTamimi’s blood-lusting assault on a pizzeria to kill the Jewish children inside, this reminder:
No US official ever says she should stay free. Or that she’s innocent or what she did was OK.
They say she has to be brought to US justice. Then they look away.
Gaza is no longer a part of Israel. Thats a fact. But it was. For millenia.
That is, until a myriad of colonizers invaded and occupied it. Arabs joined the long list of said colonizers beginning with the Muslim 7th century invasions.
20 years ago, Israel vacated Gaza in a land for peace deal. You received land. We certainly received no peace. It is no longer part of Israel but lets get some facts straight and be clear about the Jewish history of Gaza.
The very name Gaza has no meaning in Arabic. Because Arabs are not the indigenous people of that land. Arabs, at the risk of sounding like Captain obvious, are indigenous to Arabia. The word Gaza means Strong or Fortified in Hebrew it means nothing in Arabic.
Jewish rule of the land dates back to the 11th century BCE under King David. Before this, it was largely Philistine territory. Following the split of the kingdom, Gaza became part of the Kingdom of Judah.
Jewish sovereignty over Gaza during did not end until 63 BCE when the Roman general Pompey the Great invaded the region, and placed Gaza under Roman administrative control.
The Arab conquests of the 7th century, are how Arabs, now called Palestinians, arrived in Gaza.
FACT: Before the Great Mosque of Gaza was a Mosque, it was a Jewish Synagogue . Below is an ancient Menorah engraving on what is now the Great Mosque.
"a mosaic floor was uncovered on the seashore of Gaza’s harbor. Its figures include one of King David as Orpheus, dressed in Byzantine royal garments and playing the lyre. The name “David” in Hebrew letters appears above it. A Greek inscription at the center of the floor, which mentions the names of the two donors (Menahem and Jesse) of the mosaic to the “holy place,” and the name “David,” testify to the fact that a synagogue stood there.
Evidence of a considerable Jewish population during the Talmudic period in Gaza is provided also by a relief of a menorah, a shofar, a lulav, and an etrog, which appear on a pillar of the Great Mosque of Gaza, and various Hebrew and Greek inscriptions.
In a great battle fought near Gaza in 635, the Arabs vanquished the Byzantines; the city itself fell soon afterward. It remained the seat of the governor of the Negev, as is known from the Nessana Papyri."
-Michael Avi-Yonah and Shimon Gibson for Encyclopedia Judaica
Israel did indeed surrender that territory. It is no longer part of Israel proper. But no one gets to deny or re-write history.
And it is very very sad that Gazans were given an opportunity to have their own state and instead of building, they destroyed. Gaza could have been the pearl of that entire coastline.
Tragically, Gazans chose a different path.

Young men are not voting for Democrats because our candidates keep slandering all men as rapists and Nazis
The Plan? We run a rapist Nazi to show that there's a place for them in our party
True, @fnotarius and thank you!
I’m neither a political figure nor a social media influencer. I’m just the father of an American child who was murdered at 15 in a massacre of Jewish children and I am determined to see the Jordanian savage, #AhlamTamimi, who sickeningly calls her role in that atrocity “my operation”, brought in chains from Jordan to Washington to face charges there that Jordan has enabled her to evade since 2013.
Jordan must be made to comply with its treaty obligation to the US, something it violates in broad daylight with quiet help from Washington insiders. US justice must be done.
Please sign our petition [https://t.co/0mNc34IAhx]. We need it to grow well beyond the current 30,000.
Once again, thank you @fnotarius. Important for me to clarify that getting #AhlamTamimi into a US courtroom is something the US decided to do 13 years ago when charges were issued against her. It's a serious terrorism prosecution that has gotten derailed. There's still a $5M reward on her head. There's still a team of prosecutors working this case all these years. And what's needed is to blunt the shockingly successful efforts of Jordan to keep her safe in Jordan. Beyond that, there's a need neutralize the even more shocking efforts of Washington insiders who do whatever Jordan wants. No one in the Congress or in Washington public life should ever have allowed US justice to be trampled in the way it has and allowed Jordan, a treaty partner and beneficiary of massive US aid, to pervert US justice in the way it has been perverted since 2013. But there you go. That's how Washington works. And, as I have come to understand, it takes sustained public pressure and a lot of determined grown-ups to get those Beltway insiders to stop doing what they do whenever they think no one is looking.
Please be a grown up and help get justice done. The petition is a good place to start: https://t.co/0mNc34IAhx
@CoreyBBrooks It's going to fund exorbitant pensions for government employees and public school employees, the result of decades of corrupt one-party government and no serious attempt to amend Article XIII, Section 5 of the Illinois Constitution.
