@phantomtransy @ZeroSuitCamus Jay Leno had a recurring bit where he would take out of context or misprinted newspaper clippings and show them off for laughs. It's lazy (Leno didn't need to do anything, since viewers would send them in). Conan is making fun of it by doing one that's obviously fake.

@jfruh It's definitely old internet vs new internet, but I hate how slow video and audio is? In text, if it's not compelling in 0.5 seconds, you just move on! I remember watching 60 minutes with my dad after years of being online only and getting frustrated that I couldn't fast forward!

@ASmithVol @gary_weiss @Yair_Rosenberg Assuming the demand pool betting is infinite, I suppose. But I think these things tend to be a bit limited. If normally there are, say, $200M worth of bets, and someone comes and drops $50M, there’s only so much correction that’s going to happen.

@gary_weiss @Yair_Rosenberg I mean, yes but it's top heavy. Polymarket in particular seems to have some gigantic heavy bets (in the millions) on Trump, which skews it as an indicator (it just shows that a handful of very rich people are betting on him)

@jfruh Then every cycle, like clockwork, we get news stories about how NC voters are "much more independent than they used to be" because "unaffiliated" voters are going up.

@jfruh Also, in many states (like here in NC), if you're unaffiliated, you can vote in any primary you want. If you register with a party though, you can only vote in that party's primary. Registering with a party has no benefits! It's all downside!
