#Opinion: Hawaii Politicians Should Try Something New — Improving Life For All Of Us: Forget the scenery, forget the weather and ask yourself this: What was the last thing your government did for you that made you feel good about living here? https://t.co/xlh2WSqryw #HInews
Tuesday, April 9, 2024 9:07 AM PDT:
A weak 579 DM high pressure will arrive Tuesday at 11 AM and is expected to develop overall California, Las Vegas, Nevada, and Arizona for a short period until Thursday afternoon for spectacular weather for hiking and outdoor activities that you would normally do this time of year in spring. The temperature range is projected to reach 79 to 83 degrees Fahrenheit across much of Southern California valleys. Meanwhile, Central California will experience temperatures in the low 70s. San Francisco remains in the 60s and Arizona especially Phoenix may hit near 94° by Wednesday and Thursday afternoon due to semi-warm airmass due to this brief subtropical high over our region.
However, I’m anticipating a significant abrupt change in the weather conditions due to a 534 DM cold Pacific storm approaching from the Gulf of Alaska. This storm is particularly intriguing because it will follow an overwater trajectory throughout its journey, directly toward central and southern California. By Saturday midday, the storm is expected to arrive and continue until Sunday evening.
This storm's path places us in the right front quadrant, increasing the likelihood of thunderstorm development from Santa Cruz, California to San Diego. Additionally, wind gusts of 35 to 50 mph are expected along the central coast, which may result in some isolated downed trees and power lines by late Friday 11 PM. Furthermore, there will be additional snowfall from the cold storm, potentially mixing with another storm originating from the Hawaiian islands. This second storm is forecasted to arrive on Saturday night, further contributing to the upcoming system.
As a result, slightly above-normal rainfall is possible for mid-April 2024. It is important to note that the Coachella festival, specifically on the 13th and 14th, may be affected by this system. Lightning strikes are also a possibility, and attendees should remain vigilant. Due to the dynamic, potent system that’s associated with possible thunderstorm development rainfall amounts trending from 0.45in to 1.2in but may have to be adjusted further in the next few days so keep an eye out for that one. I’m watching this weather situation develop in the next 24 - 42 hours. #Aprilwhiplash #Californiastorms #Coachella2024 #ElNino #WeekendStorm

Sunday, March 24, 2024, 7:29 AM PST: Our weekend storm system is not over yet for much of California today. An unstable 540 DM low pressure just off of Humboldt County. This low axis will allow for a series of embedded disturbances to come through the coastal communities from San Luis Obispo to San Diego. Another impulse will come through Santa Clarita Valley across the LA basin and central California as well.
There’s a chance of showers and isolated stronger storms that could develop in the afternoon due to the higher March sun angle in combination with cold air aloft over the entire southern half of the state will put us at elevated risk for thunderstorm activity this afternoon. There is a possibility that some of these storms could turn isolated severe as we have seen this March 2024 so far. #Californiastorms

@me1438402193233 @DanRather Congrats to the contractor who got paid to make something they knew would be ineffective but the government made sure to blow money on. Land of the free (money), home of the brave ( people willing to risk death for a better life in ‘the new world’ who immigrated to US).
Kudos to the Town of Alta for formally passing a resolution urging UDOT to suspend consideration of a gondola in Little Cottonwood Canyon!

This is quite possibly the best satellite image I’ve ever seen of California. Full green up west of the Sierra, solid white along the Sierra, Tulare Lake, Owens Lake & Lake Manly full and visible. Just incredible!
