This morning at Parliament, we presented the position of @NUP_Ug on the very problematic Protection of Sovereignty Bill, 2026. Our position, echoing the stand of most other stakeholders, is that the Bill is unconstitutional, irrelevant and brought in bad faith to further persecute those with divergent views. We opine that no amount of changes to the Bill can cure its defects, and it ought to be withdrawn. The Bill promises to protect sovereignty and yet in its every clause, it takes away the sovereignty of the people. Hopefully, common sense will prevail.

Uganda!
A very senior military officer runs a political outfit that functions exactly like a political party, complete with an active secretariat and formal structures.
The country's Attorney General, the government's chief legal adviser, is one of its key promoters.
The outfit regularly issues press releases outlining its considered positions on the nation's most critical issues.
It also has branded merchandise, featuring portraits of the officer, which supporters flaunt openly and without fear.
The officer has celebrated his birthday with a purported charity run today, graced by senior government, military, police and prisons officers, including a deputy speaker of parliament, ranked 5th in the country’s order of precedence.
And somehow, this is all considered normal.
We are a wasted generation.
Everyone is now arguing: ‘Nyanzi is a traitor’ or ‘Nyanzi is a victim.’ But I think both are wrong.
The truth is that he’s a pawn in a game the state designed many years ago. NUP's electoral management team managed to identify and smoke out three prominent traitors, but I am not sure they saw this plan coming from state.
The real question is: why does NUP, a movement that survived bullets, teargas, abductions and all that, get broken by a "likely testimony" from Fred Nyanzi?
It is because we romanticise loyalty. We treat it as sacred, even when it becomes a trap.
Loyalty without strategic thinking is just a leash. The state pulled it.
If NUP doesn’t learn that blind allegiance is a liability, this won’t be the last time. The enemy learned how to use your strength against you. Now you must learn how to adapt.
I think this is that first state Burial ceremony for an opposition legislature .. may your rip🙏 to the Uganda police force did you loose anything when you accepted to cooperate with people power /NUP foot soldiers??
The making of Uganda’s Sovereignty Bill
Firstly, the Intelligence community authors concocted Intelligence making materially disprovable facts about unarmed foreign groups/power funding regime change in Uganda.
Note: They cannot show where the money is or which bank account it is held in. Still, they make their claim.
Secondly, they leak these reports to the public and then deny having authored them. It is fake, they cry out.
